As part of our RSE curriculum this week, we were discussing the ways we can manage our emotions if we become dysregulated. We practiced some breathing exercises as well as a short yoga video aimed at helping us relax and relieve anxiety.

Today we discussed that tomorrow is safer internet day so we spent our crew session today thinking about safety in school, the playground and then in the community. We discussed our ideas in mini crews and then as a whole crew. We added some of our ideas to an anchor chart that we have displayed in our classroom.
Our crew check in this morning really got us thinking… Which of the characters would you like to be and why? Some very interesting discussions!! We have then been working on our own crew story for the year 1 children. We are creating a new story that we will share with Crew Marsh at the end of the week! We have tried to include some of the writing features we have been working on- descriptive language, conjunctions, adverbials and similes 🙂 Our imaginations run wild when we got creative! We have defiantly made a great start this morning and can’t wait to finish it in crew tomorrow.
This week, in Crew Pashley, our kindness mission is to say good morning and good afternoon to grown ups around school. We are trying hard to show kindness to everyone around school.
Today in crew we thought about what storytelling is and what it means to us. Mrs McClare shared her experiences as a child and her favourite book. Our crew check in allowed us to share our favourite stories with each other and why we like those particular books. We then went into the library and shared some books together. Some of us even read out loud to the rest of the crew! This was lovely to see. Finally after discussing the stories we had read, we wrote some book recommendations. We really enjoyed doing this and look forward to the next activities in the morning.
Today in Maths, we practiced counting in 3s altogether then we used our 2D shape knowledge to name then cut out the shapes ✂️to make some different animal pictures.
In Crew Haddock this morning we did blind drawing where one person describes a picture and the other one had to draw it.
Reflecting on our last expedition whilst we prepare for our SLC’s next week 🙂
In Crew Godley, we were challenged to become human springs! We had to work with a partner and lean against their outstretched arms. We then had to push back and forth several times in a comfortable, rhythmic manner. Once we had mastered it with our partner, we then changed partners and tried to see if we could get into the same rhythm.
We found it quite tricky to begin with, but we showed great resilience and tried really hard to work with different people in our crew to get it right!
Today we discussed and explored mental and physical health. We thought about our favourite sports and activities then looked at our heart rate and what happens when we start exercising! We enjoyed playing sporting charades!
