Yet another fabulous year performing at Sheffield Arena as part of Young Voices 2024!
Library visit 📖
This afternoon, we visited the library to choose a new book to take home. We love a library visit and being able to browse all the different books. Some children love to quietly read to themselves whilst others like to read a book to their friends.
PP2 recount 🐻❄️ ✍🏻
In writing, we have started plot point 2 of our recount about our visit to Yorkshire Wildlife Park. We are really enjoying writing about our trip and have come up with some amazing vocabulary and ideas. We can’t wait to continue to write this next week.
Crew Thompson are recycling experts!
Yesterday, we had visitors from the recycling centre in Doncaster who came to explain what recycling is and the process it goes through. We were amazed to see all the different stages the litter goes through to be recycled. We had a game of “where do we chuck our litter”. The children had to stand by the bin they thought that piece of litter goes in. Charlie smashed it and was our recycling expert!
Doncaster past or present?
In expedition this afternoon, children explored different places and things in Doncaster and discussed whether this was in the past or the present. We discussed whether these features were human or physical features. We also discussed the population of Doncaster and what impact this has.
How can we protect our Wonderful World?
On Friday, we completed our compass lesson to try to find the clues to work out our guiding question. Children had a map of the school grounds and clues to follow for example, 23 steps North. Children worked really well as crew to find all the clues. We then went back inside and figured out the guiding question. We were so excited to find out our guiding question for this expedition is “How can we protect our Wonderful World?”
Majestic Polar Bears
Amazing Fieldwork at YWP
Today has been such a wonderful day. Where we’ve seen lots of different animals however, the highlight of the day was definitely the polar bears. It was a privilege to see such majestic creatures. We look forward to finding out more about them and the reasons why polar bears need our help.
Looking after our school environment🚯
As part of hook week, we have been outside on to the school field to pick up some litter. It was really surprising to see how much litter there is on our field. We collected lots of rubbish which we aim to make some artwork out of later on in the week.
Lost in the Arctic! ❄️🐻❄️
Oh no! We were exploring the Arctic with our friends when all of a sudden we realised we were lost! An adult had a map on their phone but they forgot the passcode. We had to solve to clues to work out the passcode to the phone to help us work out the way home. We had to use a variety of different maths skills to work out the clues. We really enjoyed doing this escape room and look forward to doing another one.
