After completing our do now on converting between fractions, decimals and percentages, we completed different activities on mymaths to consolidate our learning. We really did reflect on the achievements we had already made and challenged ourselves further to improve 🙂 Our exit ticket then challenged us even further, however we worked collaboratively and supported each other to find the answers. A fab maths lesson MI 🙂
A great crew session in MI
Such a great positive start in MI this morning during our caring curriculum crew. We started to talk about why it is important to be both physically and mentally healthy. We discussed our favourite sports and activities before discussing what happens to our heart rate during exercise. We then took part in a Joe Wicks workout! This really did put lots of smiles on our faces and set us up for the day ahead. We then worked in mini crews to play sport charades. A great positive attitude by all as well as supporting each other to work collaboratively! Such great howls shown. Our debrief allowed us to discuss the things we need to make a healthy happy body 🙂

A great citizenship crew in MI
Today in our crew session we watched a clip of the Rosa Parks story. Children were so engaged and the clip generated so many detailed discussions. We were able to think about all the learning we have done in our expeditionary lessons this week and build on these. We discussed some challenging vocabulary, helping each other to understand. A fab crew session MI 🙂
Ordering fractions and decimals in MI
Building background knowledge in MI
Today we continued our history case study and started to learn about Martin Luther King Jr. We used a variety sources to find out as much as we could about Martin Luther King Jr and shared this information with the rest of our mini crew. We helped each other digest information then took part in a gallery walk during our debrief to find out what other mini crews had found out. We also offered some critique to each group. We have really worked on our work hard and get smart howl today but actively participating and encouraging others to take part too.
Here are our finished BBK grids…
Scientific report writing in MI
After completing one of our science investigations in hook week, we used our previous knowledge to write up the investigation in the form of a scientific report. Here are some examples of our work. We ensured we had a clear aim, hypothesis, independent and dependent variables, equipment, a method, results and a conclusion. Some great writing MI 🙂
MI begin their history case study
What a fantastic expeditionary lesson we had today! So many discussions and voices have been heard. It was so lovely to hear children voicing their opinions and thoughts and linking these to past events. Here children are thinking about a variety of images and what they represent. Children used their knowledge from the starter activity where we thought about inequality through gender, race, employment and wealth. We also thought about the terms equality and equity and what these mean.
We then thought about what equality and equity looks like in MI. We captured small snapshots of our ideas and discussed these in our debrief. Can you guess what we were trying to show?
We then moved onto significant events from history and discussed the importance of photographs. We completed lots of activities working in mini crews and by the end of the session each crew had built their own timeline showing significant events. We will discuss these events in more detail tomorrow. We added our timeline to our anchor chart and will refer to it throughout our history case study.
Maths in MI
Our maths lesson started with an active starter to consolidate the work we have been doing converting between fractions and decimals 🙂 We had to use our maths skills and clear questioning to find our partner in the room!
Here you can see us all completing our hinge question on ordering decimals. Such focus in MI this morning. So many children completing reasoning and problem solving questions today 🙂
Crew MI- Science investigations
Last week, Crew MI learnt all about light. We investigated how light travels and learnt that it travels in straight lines. We explored what would happen if we blocked the light if we moved cardboard. Here are some of our fantastic science reports.
