We have been planting seeds in nursery, making sure they are well covered, watered and labelled. We planted sweet peas and carrots in our propagator and in a separate one we also planted seeds for wildflowers – we can’t wait to see them when they flower! 🌸🪴🌿🥕
Resilience and determination from Max!
Max has really blown me away today with how much resilience he showed in outdoor provision this morning. He wasn’t too sure about climbing across the climbing frame once he had worked out how to get up but with a little bit of encouragement he was soon off, exploring all the different parts of the frame as he went. Each time he saw me he said he had climbed a bit further, or a bit higher and he was finding different ways to get to the other side that he had not tried before. It really put a big smile on my face and I felt very proud of Max!
The beginning of Case Study 2 in Nursery! 🌹🌿🪴
This week we have had a mini hook week introducing us to our next Case Study – ‘What happens when we plant a seed?’
The sand in our sand tray has magically turned into soil and we have been using gardening tools and plant pots to make ’soil castles’.
We have also been making our own succulent pots in the playdough area, using brown playdough, plant pots, leaves and decorative stones to create mini succulent plants.
We have also been sorting different parts of a flower in the tuff tray. We’ve been deciding whether it is a stem, leaf, petal or full flower and putting it in the correct section. The petals are really soft to touch and the flowers smell beautiful!
Reading with Crew Godley
To finish off ’Storytelling Week’ we invited Crew Godley to our classroom to share different stories and show them our favourite story books. We really enjoyed having Crew Godley read to us and we think we might make this a regular thing on a Friday!
Storytelling with EYFS
Crew Godley shared some our favourite stories with Crew McGone today. It was so lovely to see our younger children showing kindess and respect to each other. We all demonstrated lovely listening skills 📚🥰 and we can’t wait to return next week 🥰
Fun in Nursery!
Today we have had lots of fun with the parachute during crew. We did a parachute dance to the music and followed the instructions we heard. We had the pleasure of being joined by James from Year 4, who was a fantastic photographer for us whilst we did this!
We really enjoyed having James with us, especially when he played with us in provision! We were chasing him all around the playground and we found it really funny when he went to hide in the mud box! Thank you for coming to spend the morning with us James! 😁

Making healthy pizzas 🧑🍳🍕
We spent the morning making our healthy pizzas, ready for our parents to come in and taste them with us! We started by washing our hands and making sure that everything we needed was clean and ready to use. We chose different toppings that needed cutting and used our cutting skills to make them easier to put on our bases. Then, we added the sauce to our base before adding the cheese and the toppings we had prepared.
Once we added our toppings, Miss McGlone put them in the oven. Look how yummy they looked when they came out!
When our grown ups arrived it was finally time for the taste test – we had waited all morning for this moment! It was worth it because they tasted delicious! 😋
Shopping for ingredients to make healthy pizzas! 🛒🍕
So that we could make healthy pizzas, we needed to visit Carcroft Stores to gather all of our ingredients. We needed to get wraps for the base, passata for the sauce, as well as all of the toppings we wanted! We made sure we had our baskets and trolleys ready to fill with lots of items before taking them to the cashier so we could pay and pack our items into our bags.
