Crew Elmer Daily Blog 16.11.20

Well what a different Monday today has been! I should of known last week that things were too good to be true! 🙄 So here we are again Mrs Elmer teaching from home! 😬

Star moment of the day: ⭐

Despite being at home 🏡 I absolutely loved 💕 teaching the children about William Booth and The Salvation Army this afternoon. I was so impressed with how well the children listened and took in the information that I shared with them. The children were then able to use this knowledge to ask and answer questions. I wonder who’s work will end up on our Expedition Working Wall? I wonder if Esme found out who the nurses were who volunteered? I wonder if anyone worked out how many years the Salvation Army has been functioning for?

Todays HoWL average is: 3.4

Well done Crew Elmer! To say that I haven’t been physically in the classroom, I am still really happy with how well you have just got on! 👍

This week’s HoWL target is: 3.4

How can we develop this tomorrow?

Please please please be kind to each other and Miss Clarke. You are all doing a fab job without me being there so please keep this up! #weareinthistogether #crew

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Despite being at home 🏡 I got to listen in on all of the praises today which was lovely 💕 Rhyleigh yours was especially sweet and I liked how it was a more in class praise rather than always being about crew playtimes. As a crew Harry was chosen for working so hard today! I had to echo that as during Hooked On Books he listened well, was one of the first to finish, participated well and wrote some great answers. This afternoon during Expedition, Fix it and Crew he was on task, again listening attentively and demonstrated a keen positive attitude. Well done Harry! You truly deserve to be today’s HoWL Hero! 👍👏🙌🤩

Crew Boswell – 16.11.20

A good day today made better by everyone being able to come back into school and getting the crew back together!  We even had a special visitor with the children learning about William Booth and his work during the late 1800s and having the opportunity to interview him (albeit in character).

Today’s HoWL average is: 3.3

Our Weekly HoWL target is: 3.1

I wonder if…

I wonder if we can really focus on our presentation tomorrow, especially in maths or where we need to use a ruler for straight lines.

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Our HoWL hero today is Ethan!

What a day for Ethan.  He’s made a super effort in being kind to the rest of the crew and has impressed us all with his positive attitude to his work and to everything that we have done.  Let’s keep this going, Ethan!

Highlight of the day

Finally our the clay we used to make our Diva lamps has dried! 🪔 This meant that today we could begin decorating them! The children did a wonderful job painting brightly coloured patters and using bold colours! They are looking amazing and we can’t wait to put the finishing touches on them later this week.

Today decided as a crew that this weeks HOWL score target would be 3.2 which is a little increase from last week, fingers crossed we can achieve this and get spin on the wheel! ⚙

Well done Crew Thiede a great start to the week! Let’s keep going!

Crew Nicholson Daily Blog 16.11.20

Magnificent Monday ✅ We have had a fantastic start to the week we have had! We started our day with Kixx with Coach Shelly. We had so much fun dancing to different songs then we did our own moves, using all our parts of our bodies to dance. The children had some interesting moves 💃🏻🕺🏽 We then played musical statues and musical bumps. We had to focus really hard on our listening skills to make sure we stopped in time!

We then read our new class text ‘The Gruffalo’ 🦉🦊🐍🐭 using story spoons. We talked about the features of a book such as the blurb and the title. Tomorrow we are going to practice our mark making skills and draw a Gruffalo!

We have done lots of singing practice today, singing our Christmas songs for our Christmas advent calendar. We will be sending out some song sheets for you to practice with your child at home you will soon be singing them in your sleep like us 😂

Well that is Monday finished….

My star moment today was learning about William Booth with children in our theme lesson, it was great to have in depth discussions about how this man helped a lot of people back in the 1800’s. I wonder if anyone can remember some of the ideas William Booth put in place? 🤔

Tomorrow, Crew Marsh need to make sure they are listening straight away. We have been fussier today.. I know we can improve on this tomorrow.

Crew Godley Daily Blog 16.11.2020

Thank you to the 12 families who has completed the home learning tasks set last week 😊 The children had a lovely time in crew this morning showcasing their hard work at home 🙌🏼 This week the children have brought home their home learning in a book so you can record work in there if this is easier 📚 New work will be added every Monday, the children will be asked to put their books in the special home learning box each Friday when this is completed, this will help with routines when the children move into Year 1.

The children have also brought home a letter regarding RWI progress. This shows you where your child is currently working at. If your child is working below the expectation, we have seen the impact that parental support has had over the last few weeks in order to help catch the children up. We really appreciate your support and together we can close the gaps. The keyrings sent home last week will support your child in recognising their sounds. These sounds are read speedily and should take no longer than 5 mins per night to go through. Thank you all for your continued support.

Today we have worked incredibly hard on our new text, ‘The Gruffalo’. The children have enjoyed retelling the story and creating their own Gruffalo’s complete with labels! Absolutely brilliant work!

In PE we worked hard to follow instructions to create our own dance moves to ‘I’ve got a feeling’. I’m sure the children would love to show you! Watch a little snipet below 😊

Shelby and Lydia sparked a lovely discussion around the Foodbank donations, thank you for your generosity. The girls were able to articulate why they had brought the items to school, you are so kind and thoughtful girls.

Getting Smart – Victor

Victor has made fantastic progress with his phonics, he is beginning to recognise sounds and write these. Well done Victor, keep up the great work!
