Crew Flaherty Daily Blog 5.10.20

Good evening everyone. We have had a marvelous Monday in our Crew today.

Highlights of the day:

It started with a lovely Crew session this morning, although a lot of children were feeling tired this morning, it has not stopped us writing a wonderful story opener in English and counting in 2s in maths followed by a fabulous book talk lesson where the children made some great predictions. Our lovely day was finished with a fantastic PE lesson where the children have been listening carefully. I could definitely see an improvement this afternoon. Well done everyone.

In English We have some lovely story openers with some children including expanded nouns phrases independently which is just amazing. A special mention to Jacob for writing ‘One bright, sunny morning my head was full of wonder.’ Such a great start to your story.

HOWLs

Our Crew average for the day was 3.4. A brilliant start to the week. I wonder if we can follow instructions carefully between lessons so we can make the most of our learning time tomorrow.

HOWL heroes

Work Hard

Billy has stood out today for working hard during English and maths. He also showed great sportsmanship during PE and was eager to see his ‘mini crew’ succeed.

Be Kind

Our Crew chose Amelia for our Be Kind certificate today. She has been kind to her friends on the playground at playtime and lunchtime which is just lovely to hear.

Crew Godley Daily Blog 05.10.2020

What a marvelous Monday we’ve had 😊 The children were so settled after the weekend, it was lovely to see so many happy, smiley faces this morning. A big shout out to Freddie who always greets his teachers with a smile and a ‘good morning’, such beautiful manners.

Highlights of the Day:

RWI and name writing: All the children have taken part in their RWI session today with such a positive attitude. The adults were so impressed with how the children were ‘getting smart’ by listening carefully and producing some beautiful work.

The children were so eager to continue their name practice, they asked to take their learning outside 😊 Kyla even demonstrated to her peers how to hold her pen correctly. She used the nip, flip, grip method and produced some beautiful handwriting.

We would like all children to be able to recognise their name by October and begin to write it, if we can all write our name by Christmas🎄 that would be amazing!! We already have some little✨ ‘s who can write their name already 😊

Forest School: The children went on a Gruffalo hunt today and found lots of characters from the story. This encouraged some fantastic speaking and listening skills.

Howl Heroes:

Work Hard: This Howl goes to Taylor, Teddy and Noah for showing their teachers their ‘green standard’ work today in Crew Circles and RWI . The boys listened to all the instructions, followed them carefully and tried their best in every lesson today, well done boy’s keep up the great work!

See you all tomorrow with your great big smiles ready for school photos 😊

Crew Wilson Daily Blog : 5/10/2020

Monday is complete, and what a great day we’ve had!

Highlights of the Day:

PE: Today we have been working on our communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal and I feel that these or developing more and more every day. Today we tested non-verbal skills in PE, asking the children to work together to move an object from one side of the playground to the other, without talking to each other. This was a struggle for some children to start with but we got there by the end, great work Crew!

Computing: Today we have recorded an algorithm that has moved the BeeBot around the map to our desired location, using directional language such as forward, backwards, left and right. We found the arrows were quite tricky to draw, but we rose to the challenge and worked through the challenges with resilience and managed to get the BeeBot to the treasure without having to De-Bug it, well done Crew!

Howl Heroes:

Work Hard: This Howl goes to Tommy for showing all of his teachers his ‘green standard’ work today. Tommy has made sure he has listened to all the instructions, followed them carefully and tried his best in every lesson today, well done Tommy!

Get Smart: This Howl goes to Stevie today for showing fantastic listening skills. Stevie has gone above and beyond today in every single lesson, contributing to discussions and helping her friends when they got stuck. Well done Stevie!

Be Kind: This Howl goes to Tia today for helping her friends, keeping the classroom tidy and showing her teachers how sensible she can be in transition times. Well done Tia!

Howl Average:

3.4 today, we are going to work as a crew tomorrow to get this score back up!

Crew Fox blog 5.10.20

Crew Welburn Daily Blog 5.6.2020

Monday ✔

We have had a busy day in Crew Welburn today!

Highlights from today:

Computing:

The children were brilliant in their computing lesson today. I was particularly impressed with the children when they were working independently on the laptops. They are beginning to understand how to work the laptop and are becoming more independent when working out the algorithm for their Beebot. Well done everyone 🙂

Provision:

The children have been working beautifully during indoor provision. It is lovely to see them working together and supporting each other when they come across a problem. The children have been working so hard in the Finger Gym. It is brilliant to see how well the children concentrate and work in a mini crew to help one another.

Our HOWL Heroes:

Work Hard: Elijah has worked so hard during every lesson today. He got on with his work straight away, listened carefully to instructions and has had a positive attitude to his learning all day.

Get Smart: Tiarna received our get smart HOWL hero today because she produced some beautiful work during computing.I was so impressed with the time and effort she put in to working out her algorithm and writing it out.

Be Kind: Frankie has been so considerate and respectful towards the equipment in school today. She has made sure that her table is tidy and encouraged others to look after their equipment too. Frankie has also used her manners all day.

HOWL average: 2.9. Let’s get this score even higher tomorrow Crew Welburn!

Crew Boswell – 05.10.20

Our star moment has to be our expedition lesson this afternoon.  After thinking about miners at the start of the day, we looked into questions that we would ask a miner about their day and the challenges that they might have faced.  There was some great group-work and some brilliant chotting throughout the day!

Today’s HoWL average is: 3.0

Our Weekly HoWL target is: 3.1

I wonder if…

I wonder if tomorrow we can transfer our excellent chotting into our own writing and magpie the best of each other’s’ ideas?

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Our Be Kind hero today is Ellie!

Ellie is usually kind but it was amazing to see her supporting one of her mini-crew with a maths problem when she could see they were getting frustrated at not understanding.  Rather than telling them the answer, she clearly explained how they could find the answer for themselves and guided them to correctly answer it for themselves.

Crew Mcloughlin Blog 05/10/20

Most children in Crew Mcloughlin have had a jam-packed day of working hard, where we have learnt lots of new things. I was very impressed with how well our maths lesson went and nearly everyone got onto the problem solving! WOW🤩❗ This really reflected our expectations… if you work hard you will get smart.

HoWL Heroes

Work Hard: Harry and Abigail 🦸‍♂️🦸‍♀️

Get Smart: Lucia 🦸‍♀️

Crew Shields – 5/10/20

Crew Shields have been further exploring Plants in Science and today’s focus was Seed Dispersal. Children have learned the different ways that seeds are dispersed to ensure that new flowers grow. Can they remember one way that seeds are dispersed?

Today’s HoWL average is: 2.9

Our Weekly HoWL target is: 3.0

How can we develop this tomorrow?

Tomorrow, Crew Shields need to ensure that they are listening carefully to instructions so they can complete their learning to the best of their ability.

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Our Get Smart hero today is Holly!

Holly has been working really hard in Maths. She has been listening carefully to instructions/teaching and then applied this to her learning. Holly completed her Maths independently.
