Crew Welburn Daily Blog 29.9.2020

Tuesday ✔

A busy day in Crew Welburn today with so much learning going on!

Highlights from today:

Transitions:

I had the opportunity to take a step back today and observe Crew Welburn for a little bit and I was amazed at how sensibly they move around the classroom. This is such a big improvement since week 1 and I was really proud of all of them for being sensible as they moved from one part of the class to another.

Provision:

The children have accessed indoor provision today and they have worked so hard at their maths skills to find 1 more and 1 less, their writing skills to think of sentences from the story ‘We’re going on a bear hunt’, and to practice their fine motor skills in the Finger Gym. Well done Crew Welburn!

Our HOWL Heroes:

Miss Wroe chose our HOWL Heroes today as she has worked with the children. She chose:

Work Hard: Kairen

Get Smart: Tiarna

Be Kind:  Kyden

HOWL average: 3.2. That’s more like it Crew Welburn 🙌🙌

Crew Elmer Daily Blog 29.09.20

What a Tremendous Tuesday! 🤩

Star moment of the day:

Today I was really impressed with the children’s knowledge of ‘more than’, ‘less than’ and ‘equal to’ in Maths this morning. The children were able to use their previous knowledge and apply this to 4-digit numbers represented in different ways! This was fantastic to see and meant that many children were able to move on to reasoning and problem solving, resulting in them achieving ‘green standard’. Excellent work my set of mathematicians in Crew Elmer! Well done! 👏

Today’s HoWL average is: 3.1

This is our best score for a few days so well done Crew Elmer! 👍 I think that having Leo back and moving some of your table places has enabled us to be much kinder to each other today. I really hope that we can keep this up! 🤞

This week’s HoWL target is: 2.9

How can we improve this tomorrow?

Tomorrow Crew Elmer need to make sure that we are continuing to ‘be kind’ at all times and our focused on our learning, especially in the afternoon!

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Crew Elmer nominated Sienna for being our class ‘get smart’ hero 🥇. Sienna has been working really hard on listening at all times in class and this has enabled her to understand the task fully and achieve ‘green standard’ in all of her lessons today! She has also produced some beautiful work that both her and the whole of Crew Elmer are very proud of! Excellent work Sienna! Well done! 👏

Crew Nicholson Daily Blog 29.09.20

Another day of fantastic learning and fun! We LOVE to read and today, the children enjoyed sharing some stories outside in the sunshine! ☀️ They got comfy with a cushion in a crate and looked at the pictures together, talking about the features of a book such as the blurb and the title. 📚

Some groups of children went out to explore the Forest School. We did an Autumn walk in the forest and collected lots of conkers (or ponkers as the children kept calling them 🤣) crisp leaves 🍁  and twigs from different trees. There was lots of excellent discussion about Autumn and the differences in seasons. The children were able to tell me about the leaves on the ground and used adjectives such as ‘crisp’ ‘crunchy’ and ‘dry’. We then used our Autumn objects to make some faces 🙂

HOWL Hero

Today we have had discussions about how we need to stay on yellow for secure and if we need reminders about listening or showing the right attitude to learning, we would then be on orange. We will continue to work on this to ensure we can then score ourselves on our work and learning.

Working Hard – Charlie-Jade

Charlie-Jade has had an excellent attitude towards her learning today and has achieved a personal goal for her which is fantastic! Keep up the great work! 🌟

Todays highlights

This morning we finished off our work on roman numerals up to 1000. Crew Mcloughlin have blown me away with our knowledge of roman numerals and most applied this with reasoning and even problem solving skills. We also are getting Write Stuff superstars within our writing lessons and really picking up the routine well. Some children were going above and beyond trying to use onomatopoeia for effect. I am very impressed and I know the children were impressed with their own writing too. We even had a few confident children that said they think that their work will make it onto the Crew Mcloughlin sentence stackers display. I love your enthusiasm and we shall see if you have got there tomorrow!

This afternoon we had our geography lesson. We compared maps of continents with a map of Carcroft and had a detailed discussion around the differences and similarities. The children came up with some lovely ideas for the working wall which we will use and refer to next lesson.

HoWL Heroes 🦸‍♀️🦸‍♂️

Lila- Work Hard- I could award Lila our Work Hard Hero everyday of the week! You are a superstar who is always participating in lessons, putting 100% into everything you do and produce beautiful work by doing so. Well done!

Daniel- Be Kind- Daniel has achieved his target of being kind today and has made us smile. He has helped make the classroom tidy and been kind helping on his table to do this. Keep it up Daniel!

HoWL average= 3.0 We were very happy with this score! Most children are meeting expectations and achieving excellence. So proud!

Our HoWL target this week is to get 3 or above everyday

Crew Gerrard Blog (29/09/2020)

Hi everyone,

This morning we started by sharing how we were feeling during Crew circle and what our favourite TV show was. We worked really hard to get to grips with Roman Numerals and we did a great job of this. I know that Miss Laing was really impressed with Crew Gerrard’s determination throughout – well done!

Crew Gerrard, after spellings and break, then moved their learning onto writing. We worked at a really good pace to try and speed up our writing. Quality did not suffer and we are going to try our very best to make sure that they continue to keep improving. We then continued to develop our reading skills with our new style of learning, which we continue to develop our confidence with.

After having had our lunch, we then moved onto our expedition work. Before we started, the children were interested in finding out more information about the Golden Gate Bridge, in San Francisco. The children were really fascinated about it. During our expedition learning, we completed our analysis of what Carcroft has to offer. It’s really pleasing to see the children have lots of belief in their community and see that they want to help make it even better. The day ended with a phase Crew, where we showed our Crew’s work hard video and watched Crew McLoughlin’s brilliant video.

Our HoWL heroes for today are:

-Alicia for working hard. Your attitude of late has been brilliant and you’re really setting the example. You also helped me a great deal by scribing for me, so that your peers can be helped with the working walls. Well done!

-Tyler for getting smart. You have really tried to work independently and I was impressed by your growing confidence with Roman numerals. Keep it up!

-Belle for being kind. You really help make your Crew smile, but your listening skills and eagerness to help people was really pleasing to see. Your explanations for Roman Numerals were really impressive.

Our HoWL average today was 3.1.

Have a great evening and see you all tomorrow – remember, it is PE in the afternoon, so don’t forget your kits!

Mr G 😊

Crew Boswell – 29.09.20

Good afternoon,

Star moment of the day:

As Nate said, our star moment of the day was the way in which everyone took part in the activities in PE and tried their best even if they thought others may have been better than them.  We all won really.

Today’s HoWL average is: 3.0

Our weekly HoWL target is: 3.0

I wonder if…

I wonder if tomorrow we could all do the things that we said at the end of the day.  Whether that’s helping others, showing active listening or simply taking even more pride in our work.

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Be Kind – Bobby-Joe!  I’ll let our crew tell you why today.  Harvey – ‘ I praise Bobby because he helped me to get soap when I was washing my hands.’  Heidi – ‘I praise Bobby because in PE, Bobby made sure that I stayed as part of the group.’  Everyone – ‘I praise Bobby because he has been really kind today and has made an effort to hold doors for people, remembered to say thank you and helped us with our work.

Crew Thiede 29.9.20

Afternoon everyone!

We have had a lovely day in Crew Thiede.

Highlight of the day

Today we enjoyed our PE lesson, we went on a scavenger hunt with Coach Cara. In our Write Stuff lesson we had an experience day, we wondered about lots of different things that are in our book, The Wonder. We tried juicy, sour oranges and imagined what clouds feel like!

This afternoon we have created some beautiful work during art by mixing paint. We painted colour wheels using primary and secondary colours.

HOWLs

Today our class HOWL score was 3.1 ⬇️

Todays score has dropped a little, tomorrow we need to focus on listening to instructions first time.

Being kind

🌟 Milena for supporting her friends during art

Crew Shields – 29/9/20

Our star moment today is that children have completed a short independent write in English. It is clear that the children have really taken into account what we have been learning the last few weeks because they have been able to meet gold standard. I’m really impressed because this shows progress since the beginning of term. Well done!

Today’s HoWL average is: 2.9

Our Weekly HoWL target is: 3.0

How can we develop this tomorrow?

Tomorrow, Crew Shields need to continue ensure that they are continuing to share and show kindness to their peers.

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Our Work Hard hero today is Brooke!

Brooke has been working really hard on her presentation in writing. Today she successfully wrote from the margin without being reminded. This showed she is taking on board the feedback she is being given in lesson.
