Swimming Super Stars! 🏊‍♂️

We had what was probably our best session yet and I am incredibly proud of the progress we are making. Crew G and Crew Mc continue to blow us away! This week, we learned how to dive into the water and we had lots of children move up a group. This shows how far we have come since our first session! This was a really tricky day for choosing our Swimming Super Stars, but in the best possible way:

Kai was amazing, because he showed fantastic resilience to be able to swim on his back. He never gave up (Crew G)! 😀

Amelia for building her confidence up – you continue to go from strength to strength (Crew G)! 😁

Lila for being able to overcome her ‘fear’ of having water in her face. She even managed to jump into the deep end (Crew Mc)! 😃

Abigail M for being such an enthusiastic swimming pupil (Crew Mc)! 😄

My favourite moment of today was all of the children who managed to jump in from the deepest part of the pool. This was quite nerve wracking for some of our pupils, but the absolutely smashed it! Keep it up guys, we love seeing how happy it makes you all! 😆

Swimming Super Stars! 🤽‍♂️🏊‍♂️

Today we started off our sessions by discussing why swimming is important and the children came up with all sorts of scenarios. They were really good contributions, which led us into practicing our different types of floating. Star, tucked and pencil! It’s been another difficult choice for our swimming super stars, as some even managed to dive in at the deep end. They are:

Ellie May for really impressing me with her resilience and just how much she loves swimming. She never stops smiling! 😀

Amelia for having a boost of confidence when swimming – you were like a different person this week! 😁

Macey for showing fantastic enthusiasm and being so proud of her dive (even though she managed to splash me!) 😃

Kelby for continuing to challenge herself. You just give it a go and always try your best! 😄

Stay tuned for more swimming super stars next week, as we continue our favourite time of the week! 😆

Swimming Super Stars!

Here are our happy swimmers!

Today was our favourite day of the week, which meant one thing: it was swimming! We have had another really fantastic and positive swimming experience. This was echoed by the swimming instructors who awarded each child 5 Work Hard HoWL points each. The praise made us feel proud. Our Swimming Super Stars were:

Sophia for showing so much confidence and wanting to challenge yourself. You are doing so well! 😀

Emily for growing in confidence. We know it’s not always easy, but you are doing such a brilliant job – keep it up! 😁

Kelby for being Mrs Gilliland’s role model, you helped your peers swimming – good going! 😃

Abigail M for always showing good listening skills and enthusiasm towards her swimming! 😄

Stay tuned next week for more Swimming Super Stars! 😆 🏊‍♂️🤽‍♂️

Today Crew Gerrard and Crew McGloughlin went to one of their favourite sessions of the week. The children have learned lots of new skills to improve this week and we are seeing more and more move up groups.

Our Swimming Super Stars today were:

Alicia for growing in confidence to be able to swim without noodles/floats! 😁 (Crew G)

Jolie for being able to show her group fantastic swimming techniques! 😃 (Crew G)

Lucia for being a superstar at her first swimming lesson! 😄 (Crew Mc)

Lila for moving up a group in swimming! 😀

Well done guys! We can’t wait for next week! 😆

Sportsmanship in PE lessons

Starting this week, as a school we are beginning to look at sportsmanship. The children in their crew sessions are going to learn what sportsmanship is, what sportsmanship looks like, how we can change our mindsets about winning and losing and build on crew strengths.

What is sportsmanship? Sportsmanship is fair and generous behaviour or treatment of others, especially in sporting contests.

What are the 5 characteristics of a good sportsperson?

  • Have a positive attitude at all times during sports play
  • Give their best effort
  • Encourages and support their crew mates
  • Accept calls given by referees or coaches
  • Treat the opposition team with respect

The sessions have got off to a great start and the children have really thought about how they can show sportsmanship in their PE lessons. Look out for your children coming home with a Kixx sporstmanship certificate …
