Non-Uniform day 6th July 2023

On Thursday 6th July we will be holding a non-uniform day to support our Summer Fayre. We ask that the children bring in a chocolate donation or a bottle (which will go on our infamous bottle stall – this can range from bubble bath, water, fruit juices or a bottle of fizz) rather than the usual fee.

Thank you for your continued support.

Religious Education

Today, we started our first RE lesson! We learnt about Christianity, the religion of Jesus. We started off by naming what we already know about Christianity, where a student added a whole whiteboard worth of information (this was me,Gabriels):

After that, we studied the difference between a Christian family and an Atheist family based on the objects in their houses. We discussed that some of us don’t have family photos in our house and some have a weekly calendar in the kitchen. Then we watched a video about Nathan, a young boy who lives in a Christian family. To finish it all off, we made a weekly calendar based off the things he did in the clip based on his religion and as a typical 11 year old boy. Some of us even took a weekly planner home!

Spreading kindness 🥰📖

On pyjamarama day, we competed with each other to make the most beautiful bookmarks; the winning bookmarks would then be placed in the library for other children to use across school. It was so hard to choose just one… so much so that me and Miss Taylor chose 7 finalists! All our bookmarks have been published and are now ready to enjoy. So no more folding the corner of the page, go grab yours when you next visit the library! I am sure they will be in high demand!

Practising our presenting skills

Final word is approaching and a couple of us are nearly finished and are starting to practise our presenting skills. This will be really useful as we move up to secondary! Sneak peek before the real thing 😬 Shout out to Esme for nearly making us cry with her amazing video she has made, it is a lovely touch to showcase her memories at Carcroft.

Magic maths

In maths we consolidated our knowledge of FDP equivalents and algebra. We really showed collaboration and that we have still got our knowledge from being taught this months ago! 🤩

Challenge crew

This morning we headed to the forest to play forty forty for our challenge crew; its just like hide and seek but with a twist. We had to excel in communication and teamwork skills and ensure we made it back home to our base! Well done Crew Mcloughlin.
