Challenge Crew

Today we completed a challenge to ‘re-create’ the Earth, Sun and Moon in an informative video to build up knowledge of key vocabulary and scientific learning of Earths rotation and revolution. This linked to our expeditionary learning (CS1 physics) and was a great recap of yesterdays learning. We worked on our team working skills and communicating in bigger groups. We had to also use our IPAD skills to ensure our recording was final product quality.

From our IPADS we screen shared our videos on the board for the rest of the Crew. They ensured our knowledge was correct and worthy of using for our expedition final product. Watch this space for the final edit coming soon…

UKS2 Fieldwork that was out of this world 🚀

 Y5 and Y6 were able to visit the National Space Centre on Wednesday where we had time to explore all the different interactive galleries and the UKs largest planetarium. The children had the opportunity to see shuttles, rockets, space suits and even a real piece of the moon.

During the day, they were able to read lots of information which then allowed them to answer some questions around our second case study for this expedition focusing on forces.

We also took part in a workshop all about the Sun, Earth and Moon. We took part in a quiz then took part in a practical activity around how we get day and night and seasons. Afterwards, they explored the phases of the moon and then produced a turn wheel to help them remember each phase.

Every child displayed awesome HoWLs and they really did themselves and school proud. This fieldwork has really hooked us in to our learning and we cannot wait to get started learning even more about our expedition!

Y6 PE Days (Crew Mcloughlin/Crew Boswell/Crew MI)

Hope you are all having a lovely break!

Next week year 6 will have PE on just the Thursday, this is due to our very exciting trip to the National Space Centre on Wednesday😄 (details are all on parent pay incase you need a reminder of the times for this as children will need to be in school no later than 8am).

Then on a normal week our usual PE slots will be a Wednesday and a Friday.
