Wow! I am so proud of the crew today, getting smart to produce beautiful work. We ensured we reflected on our presentation, sitting our letters on the line, using finger spaces and the correct punctuation. It was a lot to think about! We wrote with pride and I couldn’t have been more prouder at our first attempt to produce display writing. Well done Crew Godley!

Staff do crew too! At XP, we always say, if it’s good enough for the children, it’s good enough for us.
Therefore, just like our pupils, staff also take part in staff crew events. Yesterday staff had to work with small crews they don’t often work with to complete the ‘Great British Bake Off’. The challenge was to produce Mary Berry standards cakes whilst also decorating and presenting their beautiful work. It was a challenge in just 60 minutes!
I’m sure you’ll agree that there were some wonderful creations which the children enjoyed exploring too!
In 1st place was ‘The Gruffalo’ followed by ‘Wonka’ in second place and in third, ‘Mary Beary’.

To finish off our week of ‘The Three Billy Goats Gruff’, Crew MW invited their siblings into their classroom to tell them the story that we’d been learning. We used our bridges, trolls and other props to tell the story, and repeated familiar phrases like, ‘Who’s that trip trapping over my bridge?!’ to show what each character said. We had so much fun with our brothers and sisters!

Today in crew Marsh we made some bunny’s out of paper plates and cotton balls.

Today in expedition, we built bridges for our billy goats to cross the river. We started by looking at some bridges that other children had made and looking at the equipment that they had used to create them. Then we worked with a partner to decide what equipment we would use to create our own bridges. We looked at which resources would make strong bridges and why they would be strong, before getting to work and building with our partners! Have a look at our creations…

Today in expedition, we created trolls to use when re-telling the story, ‘The Three Billy Goats Gruff’. We followed the steps to create our puppets and we will be using them to re-tell the story on Thursday.

Today in Crew MW, we had a walk round to forest school to take part in some outdoor learning. We took some clay out with us and used rolling pins to roll it out flat. We then collected an interesting object like a leaf or a branch and rolled this into the clay to make a print. We were really excited with how our prints came out and we can’t wait to paint them and have a look at them all once they’ve dried!

Crew MW spent today creating their final Christmas cards! We used our first drafts to think about what we liked and what we wanted to change. After that, we drew our wire using pencil, then went over it with a black line, mixed our colours and then printed them using our fingers to create the lights. We think that our work looks beautiful!
