LKS2 Hook Day 1 (19.4.22) 🍭🍬

Today, LKS2 have been figuring out their guiding question for the Summer Expedition. We played a game of hangman to figure out what it was. This was great fun trying to guess what it could be and we managed to get there!

After having the Guiding Question revealed, Why is the history of sugar not so sweet?, we started our KWL by writing down what we knew about sweets and what we would like to know. It was great to hear questions like why does sugar energise us, how does sugar melt in water and who discovered sugar? LKS2 can’t wait to find these out over the next few weeks.

Finally, Year 3 and 4 then watched some videos about how sweets are made. We were mesmerised by how rock was made, as well as candy canes. We even wondered if we would be able to visit a sweet factory or make our own. Keep your eyes peeled! 👀👀

LKS2 Celebration (31.3.22)🎸🎵🎶

We would just like to say a massive thank you again to parents attending our celebration event this afternoon, it was great to have parents back in school celebrating the children’s hard work. We loved sharing our final product song with you and will be in touch soon to tell you about purchasing the CD.

Keep your eyes peeled out on the blog and website where the video and song will be shared for others to see.

Thanks again,

From a proud LKS2 team 😆

Basketball Tournament (22.3.22) 🏀🏀

LKS2 were lucky to hold a basketball tournament at school today and they played brilliantly well. We came up against some tough opponents in the glorious weather today, but I couldn’t be prouder of the effort the children showed. They never once gave up, tried their very best and played with a smile. We came 3rd and 4th, but will only keep on improving. Well done for your effort guys and keep up it up!

LKS2 testing surfaces (18.3.22) 👩‍🔬👨‍🔬

Today, LKS2 have been testing the surfaces of different materials. We asked the question of how far a toy car could travel on different surfaces and which was best for going the furthest distance. This was a great lesson that had a great buzz to it. The children enjoyed it and are loving their experiments at the moment. Well done on a great lesson guys!

LKS2 Recording Day (15.3.22)🎸🎵🎶

LKS2 were lucky to visit XP today, as they recorded their song. We have been working on this during our music Case Study, as part of the final product that the Trust are making. This includes all Year 3 and 4 pupils writing, singing and recording their own parts of the song. The children sang beautifully and should proud of their efforts today!

Keep an eye out for the final product – we’ll share it as soon as it is fully completed. For now, enjoy some snaps of the recording session!

Caring Crew (8.7.22) 🤔

Today, LKS2 have completed their caring Crew activity. They were asked to think about something they couldn’t live without and then draw it. It was interesting to see what the children couldn’t live without, which ranged from Nintendo Switches to school to families. Check out some of our images below:

LKS2 independent writing planning (7.3.22)📝

Today, LKS2 started planning their independent writing plot points, based on the book The Polar Bear Explorers Club. Today, we drew what we thought would happen in the plot point and then we acted it out. After completing that, we then looked through the different lenses to be able to jot down vocabulary ready to use in our independent writing. We can’t wait to write and read them!

Fractions! (3.3.22) #️⃣🔢

Year 3 had an active discussion as part of their maths lesson today. We discussed what we noticed about different fractions and looked to see if we could order them into unit and non-unit fractions. It was interesting to see what they thought they were, ready to then complete a range of questions successfully during the lesson.
