Today we began to look at Maya artwork in preparation for creating our own sculptures.
We conducted a gallery walk to explore Maya artwork.

Then we looked at some Maya glyphs and chose our favourite to incorporate into our own artwork.
We copied them carefully ready for some peer critique next lesson.

Last week, in Crew White, we looked at some of the typical crimes of Tudor England: stealing food, believing in a different religion to the ruler and speaking (or even thinking) badly about a ruler. We decided what punishments we thought these deserved. Many of us said fines, community service or short prison sentences but we found out that the Tudors treated criminals much harsher than we do today.
All of the crimes above could be classed as TREASON and, because of this, the punishments often included execution. Our next task will be to give some written opinions on some of these crimes and their punishments.

This week in our Life Skills lesson we made chocolate chip biscuits. We spoke about how we need to have clean hands and surfaces to bake. The children listened to instructions and both waited patiently while taking in turns to mix the ingredients. Getting their hands stuck in and feeling new textures, using our rolling skills and being careful placing them on the baking tray. Altogether taking 10 biscuits home for our families to share.

CrewRobson have really embraced the reading for pleasure time after lunch each day.
Children in Crew Godley have been exploring where we live in the universe. They have created their own informative video, using key scientific vocabulary to explain their ideas. This was a great activity to deepen their understanding of how the Earth rotates on its axis and revolves around the Sun.
