We have started our independent writing which is a recount inspired by The Day The crayons Quit. Here we are taking great pride in our work and getting smart by being aware of our targets.

We have been busy in our concrete maths session using sticks to build numbers as part of our Multiplication and Division unit. To kickstart this unit, pupils used sticks in bundles of 12 to make equal groups. They drew upon their shape learning to make equal groups too. We then had a gallery walk to see the different representations and orientations before making ‘unequal groups’. What a brilliant day of hands on Maths!

In Crew Ramsay we have progressed to numbers beyond 10 in Mastering Number. We have been really trying to understand that teen numbers are composed of 10…and a bit more. We have chanted, pushed beads and danced our way into teen number fluency! Here we are enjoying some down time with our rekenreks playing a little composition bingo to embed prior learning. Well done Crew Ramsay, you are awesome mathematicians.

In Crew, we put our faith in each other to the test by doing this fun partner challenge. We stood opposite our partners and took a step back, then we leaned closer and leaned on each other! We bounced gently on each other’s hands to feel the security of our crew member’s hold. We giggled and squealed and had a great time but ultimately we learned to have courage in ourselves and faith in each other! What a great Crew.

We are on a mission in to make our tricky words STICK! We are constantly exposed to these in the class environment but need to also spell them at home. Please test your child on these at home to make sure they STICK! Here we are as proud as can be with our lovely spellings.

Crew Ramsay have been developing our vocabulary by using thesauruses! We are eager to broaden our range of vocab by learning tier two words which better articulate our ideas. Here we are exploring the wonderful world of words!!

Crew Ramsay have been learning all about Podcasts! We have been recording our voices using audio software, storing it and retrieving it! We have loved developing our technical skills and cannot wait to record a podcast as our end product of this expedition. Here we are tinkering with GarageBand!

To launch our Diverse Doncaster Expedition, Crew Ramsay read the story, The Day The crayons Quit. We then used our crayons to enjoy making some pictures just like they do in the story and hung these proudly on our writing wall. We couldn’t believe it when the crayons quit the next day and left us a note! What a launch to a new writing unit!

Today we were very lucky to have a visit from volunteers Sandy and Trevor from the Children’s Air Ambulance. They shared lots of facts about how the air ambulance works and how their missions save the lives of children and babies who need urgent care. Did you know it costs £5500 each time the ambulance is launched!
Key Stage One were absolutely amazing in their Christmas Nativity ‘Wriggly Nativity’. Here we are shining like the stars we are!
