Today our Crew Ramsay parents came into school to make animals crowns with us! We are going to wear these in an animal parade to raise awareness of endangered animals! Here we are enjoying our afternoon of family learning.

Today we watched a demo sent especially to us from Nick Mackman, a real life Artist. She taught us that animals have personalities and to be a good artist, we have to look for these before we try to capture their likeness. We took some time looking at photos of animals to see what emotions and characteristics we could see before deciding if we agree with Nick Mackman… we did! We then sketched An animal sculpture and tried to capture their personalities through their expression and posture. Here we are being artists just like Nick Mackman.

Hook week has been a blast in Crew Ramsay! We made predictions about our new expedition throughout the week before the big reveal on Friday. We went on a woodland animal hunt, had a peaceful protest to protect endangered local wildlife, engaged with our key text ‘The Hungry Hedgehog’ and watched documentaries about extinct animals. What a fun week we have had!

KS1 ruled the school yesterday afternoon with their peaceful protest. We made signs to encourage people to save endangered animals – particularly hedgehogs. 🆘🦔❗️
If you’re stuck with lots of Easter eggs, do what we did and melt them to make yummy Rice Krispie buns.
We broke the chocolate into small pieces, melted it in the microwave, and added as many Rice Krispies as we could fit in the bowl.
We shared the mixture out evenly and added our special mini eggs on top!
Took them home to share with family. YUMMY 🙂

Before the Easter Holidays, we finished our paper mâché nests and decorated them, ready for the Easter Bunny. The children have also made Easter cards, creating bunnies out of handprints.
Using concrete resources, we incorporated Easter into our maths lessons with number matching and colour-by-number activities. We then used Easter in our phonics lessons to support blending CVC words. These activities were completed with minimal adult support—fantastic work!
Hope you all had a lovely Easter break!

This week, we have been baking and decorating some cupcakes for Red Nose Day, and while doing this, we had discussions around fundraising and how baking and selling was one of the many ways we could raise money. We used visuals and videos to explain what Comic Relief is, and the children completed tasks based on money and feelings.

We learned about logos, designed one and painted it before sending them off to Comms to be made into a Podcast Logo. The winning entry was Alyssa with her beautiful, symmetric Butterfly! Her pointillism technique was amazing just like everyone else’s logos in Crew Ramsay. Here is our beautiful work…

We loved presenting our learning to families and friends yesterday and the children took such pride in their product. We hope our parents and carers were just as proud and loved listening to our podcast. We are proud to say we now have our own Carcroft Spotify channel for future expeditions across school!

Today, Harlow, Hunter and Rose did a fantastic job reading stories out loud to their crew. Each of them chose a story they were excited about and took turns sharing it with everyone.
Harlow read with great confidence and expression, helping to bring the story to life for the listeners. Hunter did a brilliant job reading clearly and taking his time with tricky words so the story flowed nicely. Rose also read beautifully, using a strong, clear voice and showing great focus as she shared her story.
It was wonderful to see them all being brave and proud to read in front of their crew. Everyone listened carefully and enjoyed the different stories that were shared.
Well done, Harlow, Hunter and Rose – you were fantastic storytellers today! 🌟
