KS1 Delve into the depths of the Marina Trench

Crew Godley and Crew Longley developed their artistic skills today to highlight the importance of recycling our plastic to ensure it does not end up in the Oceans. We were fascinated to observe the Marina Trench and the impact of pollution on the deepest, darkest depths of the ocean. We used multi media to create art work to show the impact of pollution on the marine life.

Ordering numbers

We’ve been working with bigger numbers in Crew Welburn this week – numbers to 50! We worked hard as our table crews to make the numbers we were given and to put them in order from smallest to greatest.

Crew Welburn’s Pancake Day!

Today, we used our maths lesson to look at weights and measurements, and to make delicious pancakes! We worked hard in mini crews to measure out the ingredients and to follow the instructions. We even learnt how important it is to get down to eye level when measuring liquids in jugs. We hope you enjoy our photos as much as we enjoyed eating our pancakes!

PE UPDATE

Sorry, I have just realised that I said that PE was on a Tuesday.

PE is on a Wednesday, not a Tuesday.

Apologies for any inconvenience 🙂

Musical talent in Y4

Over the last two days in Y4 we have been learning how to clap in a rhythm and read music to be able to create a melody.

Expedition Learning in Crew MI

Today we have continued to produce our Colombia posters, showcasing all the research we collected on Colombia. We have wrote about Colombia’s climate, where Colombia is in the world and The Andes. Children have made a fantastic start with these and we all all excited to continue working on these tomorrow.

Perfect pancake makers and super sugar shakers!

Crew Nursery have made their own pancakes today! They talked about where the ingredients had come from and they explored them by touching and smelling them. The children watched the ingredients change as they were mixed together and observed safely as the ingredients were cooked in a hot pan.

The children chose their own sauces and toppings before eating their pancakes. Chocolate sauce with banana and a sprinkling of icing sugar was the crew’s favourite topping!

Crew Nursery = Star Bakers!

How can you be a maker like me?

As part of Case Study 3, Crew Nursery are answering the question, ‘How can you be a maker like me?’

This week, the children are going to be bakers who make delicious sweet treats! Yesterday, after reading ‘The Gingerbread Man’, the children explored various collage materials and used them to design their own Gingerbread Men. In provision, they also used role play and small world resources to reenact the story and take on the role of bakers in the play dough, sand and role play areas. We can’t wait to see and smell their very own delicious Gingerbread Men later in the week…

Crew Nursery – Spring Term 2 Week 1

In the first week of Spring Term 2, the children in Crew Nursery finished answering their case study 2 question, ‘How do you build a community?’ They looked at the different roles of people in Carcroft village and they talked about how some people help to keep us safe. The children dressed up as police officers, lollipop wardens, nurses and builders and talked about their own aspirations for the future. They also took on the roles of rubbish collectors and police officers in the small world area. The children discussed road safety whilst drawing maps of their village and they created their own traffic lights and zebra crossings using a repeating pattern. Crew nursery finished the week by making pledges to keep their community safe by putting litter in the bins.
