Year 3 PE Changes ⚽️
Just to inform you that PE for year 3 will be on a Tuesday and a Thursday. Children will need to come in suitable clothing for PE 😆

The past couple of weeks we have been narrating, critiquing and revising The Lorax. As we had finished this piece it was time to show off on Friday to our audience – year 3. It was motivating to have a purpose and the opportunity to share our work as Miss Mcloughlin reads lots of our work. We beamed with pride as we knocked on Crew Gerrard’s and Crew Flaherty’s door ready to show off our beautiful work. It was also lovely to see some year 3s reading their writing back too and giving kind critique 😀
Crew MI
Today we have started our next writing unit, a persuasive letter. We have unpicked a persuasive letter thinking about the features needed. We used coloured pencils to highlight emotive language, flattery, rhetorical questions, adverbials, facts/evidence and using the first person. We worked really hard in our pairs to support each other when reading the letter then finding the features together.
Year 3 and 6 Reading (25.2.22) 📚
What a lovely morning it was seeing Crew McLoughlin reading their independent writing to Crew Flaherty and Crew Gerrard. It was fantastic to see our Year 3 pupils share their stories to the Year 6s too. It was a lovely atmosphere throughout!
Music Hook 2 (25.2.22) 🎵🎶🎸
Year 3 have had a great lesson critiquing songs from the 60s up to now. It was great seeing how music changed and learning musical vocabulary. The critiquing was excellent and was such a lovely morning. Check out our photos below:
Weekly update from Crew FE.
The children have returned to school after the half term break in great spirits this week. They have been finishing off their learning on Hansel and Gretel and how as a community we can support each other.
They were very excited to play and support each other in our own class shop. We found during crew a few of the children’s parents work at our local supermarket. So as a crew we decided to role play these community heroes in our very own shop. They worked hard to share resources, and work our how many pennies they would need to purchase their shopping trolley full of items.
Next they looked at other community heroes and discussed the local bin men and council workers. We found these people really support our community to look nice and ensure the streets are kept clean. We deepened our own understanding of rubbish and recycling. We found as a crew we could recycle lots of our daily rubbish. We sorted the rubbish into the different bins.
The children used the play dough to create 3D figures of these community heroes. They looked closely at the different uniforms and how we could spot different jobs by just looking at what a person wore.
We will be starting case study 3 next week and we can not wait!

Crew challenge!
Who can get the tallest, free standing tower? 👏🏼
We had to work together in mini crews and use our knowledge of mass and length in order to balance and create our own freestanding tower.⚖️📏 This was tricky… and even trickier with a 3 minute timer on the countdown! 📟
Our winning crew tower measured 54cm! 😃
Crew Shields – 24/2/22
Crew Shields have really enjoyed being able to design animals that would be able to survive in the rainforest. They explored merging some animals together and ensured they had the required adaptions to survive.
