In xp outdoors they played basket ball and looked for conkers

I was very lucky this morning to be able to visit Crew Thompson and what a lovely treat I had! The children were checking into crew with the question, ‘What is your spirit animal and why?’. The care and compassion the children held for each other showed how much this crew worked hard, to be kind. The children articulated beautifully why they were protectors, shy, resilient, emotional and many more qualities….. They supported and praised each other, I was blown away by the language used and how much the children had already adapted to the challenges of Year 3.

Today we explored the work of Dennis Creffield. Dennis was a British Artist, in 1985 he was asked to draw every cathedral in England. To do this he used charcoal. We looked at how charcoal was created which linked to our case study on Firefighters. We began to create artwork in the style of Dennis Creffield by drawing our school. We used Austins butterfly to critique our work and improve it. We can’t wait to share our next draft.

This morning we started writing plot point 3. First, we discussed what we was going to be writing about and picked out the important information from our text. We then chotted our ideas about the strict Roman disciplines and wrote a shared write together. We focussed on including fronted adverbials and coordinating conjunctions and came up with some fantastic examples of these. The writing Crew Thompson produced today was fantastic!

During todays writing lesson the children were thinking about how Little Red Riding Hood traveled to see her Grandma and what she might have seen during her journey. They used their phonics skills to write the words and used small world figures and blocks to create the cottages. There was lots of great vocabulary during this activity which enabled the children to create brilliant sentences! What a great lesson we’ve had today ✍️
In xp outdoors they were looking at different leaves and finding out which tree it come from by using a leaf dial. We also found conkers😁

Crew MW took advantage of the windy weather today to do something that the children have been asking to do since the start of the year – fly a kite! We worked together as crew to get the kites up into the air, and even though it was raining, we had so much fun! 🪁

Lovely first session today with Mick. Played mirror and other team building activities . Well done to Taylor who was our hero of the week.

Today we thought about deforestation, what it is and the different causes. We watched a variety of clips to help us to understand further. We also looked at some of the reasons why people don’t want to stop deforestation. After having some great discussions on this, we took part in a role play activity. There were a variety of roles given out including loggers, pharmacists, conservationists, cattle farmers and fast food restaurant owners. We each tried to get into role and think about why we were in favour or against deforestation.
