Today we began to grapple with 2 digit x 1 digit multiplication. We recapped the use of the part whole model and used this to help multiply more manageable numbers. We had to show lots of courage to give it a go and there was lots of children offering to coach too. Well done CrewRobson!

Today we were very lucky to be able to talk to the UK’s only Maya archeologist.
Dr Diane, who lives in Wales, has spent 23 years studying the ancient Maya. She answered lots of our questions and even showed us some Maya artefacts.
We are all very excited begin our new expedition about the Maya and chocolate!

To hook into our new expedition we tried different types of chocolate. The children showed courage by trying new things even though some were very nervous!
Today we have explored our new text for spring. The text was written by Miss Colclough and is about a girl who falls down a tunnel and goes back in time to ancient Maya.
As part of our experience we made Mayan masks and tried their food!

Year 3 and 4 enjoyed sharing their final product with children across school. We had some amazing feedback from year 5 and 6 who enjoyed completing the activity sheet.
As a Christmas treat, LKS2 stayed late at school for a Christmas movie night. They brought in their Christmas pyjamas, cuddly toys, pillows and blankets. Teachers also prepared popcorn and hot chocolates for pupils to enjoy whilst watching the film. We hope you all had a lovely time!

We were lucky to have a visit from Dental Aid today where we learned about keeping our teeth healthy.
The children asked lots of good and insightful questions.

Santa joined Crews today to walk to the North Pole – the miles are quickly adding up! We’ve already walked an incredible 407 miles!

Today we started our sponsored walk from school to the North Pole! Every child needs to walk 2 miles a day. Please support pupils by sending in sponsor forms. We really challenged ourselves today! Well done LKS2 for showing great perseverance.
