Today, we have celebrated some of the beautiful work that has been produced in Crew Colclough. Pupils have worked hard in their independent writes as well as ensuring our work is presented to a high standard.

In expedition, pupils designed and made their own Maya glyphs out of clay. We used existing Maya glyphs to inspire us.

Today, we have been revising multiplying by 8. We played a game to see who could answer the question the quickest. We enjoyed recalling our times tables.

This week, a Year 4 pupil popped in to show me her independent writing and I couldn’t have been more pleased. I’m not her class teacher, but I do teach her reading, which made it extra special.
She explained how our reading lessons inspired her writing and it was lovely to see her making those links all by herself. It really shows her growing confidence and love of learning.
Miss McLoughlin is so proud of the effort and enthusiasm she’s shown. Moments like this really do make our day!
Well done – keep up the brilliant work! 🌟

Calling all rockstars!!
You have two weeks to answers as many questions as possible to ensure your crew is crowned champion.

Today we were very lucky to have a visit from volunteers Sandy and Trevor from the Children’s Air Ambulance. They shared lots of facts about how the air ambulance works and how their missions save the lives of children and babies who need urgent care. Did you know it costs £5500 each time the ambulance is launched!
In Year 4, pupils have been working really hard to edit their writing during ‘Fix It’ sessions. We have been using the acronym CUPS to support with the process. Well done Crew Colclough!

Today we were very lucky to be able to talk to the UK’s only Maya archeologist.
Dr Diane, who lives in Wales, has spent 23 years studying the ancient Maya. She answered lots of our questions and even showed us some Maya artefacts.
We are all very excited begin our new expedition about the Maya and chocolate!
In Crew Colclough, we have participated in a chocolate tasting master class. Pupils were given three different types of chocolate to taste. They used their senses to describe. We are excited to start our new expedition ‘From Bean to Bar’.

In Crew Colclough, we have completed our experience day to engage us in our new writing unit. We tasted red beans, maize and corn tortillas. The Ancient Maya diet consisted mainly of these foods. Crew Colclough demonstrated courage by trying new foods. We also created our own Mayan masks and explored why they were used.
