This afternoon we used the poster we had created around the anti bullying slogan ‘words can hurt more than you know’ to create a piece of art work. We tried really hard to use sketching techniques on our art work. We showed a great positive attitude and great resilience by continuing to try when we found things difficult. Here are some examples of our work…

Cojo Challenge – Visit from our parents
An exciting start to our Wednesday morning as we welcomed some of our parents to join us. We started the morning by getting ourselves into height order including the grown ups to get our communication skills warmed up. We then completed a cojo challenge where we had to get the ball from one end of the hall to the other. Children worked collaboratively to get the ball into the bucket but what really made me smile was how they encouraged each other even when they missed the bucket. Some great crew skills being demonstrated during this activity.
Huge shout out to the parents who got full involved with the activity. Thank you for joining in and coming to visit us in our new crew.
Transition week in MI
We have had a fantastic few days in MI for transition week. On Monday we watched the clip ’WING’ This clip allowed us to explore different themes including bullying, friendship, disability, kindness and friendship. We linked this to our be kind howl and explored the clip in detail. From here we looked in more detail at bullying and we explored different anti bullying slogans and what they aim to do. We used one anti bullying slogan in particular to think of vocabulary that comes to mind when we see it. We found that alot of these linked to what we see in a good friend. From here we used our language bank to create our own jigsaw piece. Our jigsaw piece included 3 words that we expect a good friend to hold, 1 piece of language we had created and then pictures to show our likes, this was so we could get to know others a little more. Here are our finished jigsaw pieces.

We then moved onto looking at more of the negative language that comes with bullying. We looked at another anti bullying slogan and worked in mini crews to build language. We then put ourselves in the shoes of a victim of bullying and created our own poem.

Here you can see some of the work from our parents stay and engage session…

Challenging ourselves in Crew Godley
We have had a lovely couple of mornings in Crew Godley, we’ve collaborated, challenged ourselves and reflected on our learning. We have worked with our parents to create boats which would not sink when filled and structures to hold an orange off the table for 30 seconds! I’d like to praise the resilience of the children and parents when it became a little tricky!

First PE session as Crew Godley
The children have worked hard to support each other through their first PE session as Crew Godley.
We have practiced our under and over arm throwing, batting and fielding skills and have really developed our communication skills and tried to build on our new relationships .
We are looking forward to continuing these relationships as Crew Godley.

Crew MI morning with parents
It has been so lovely to welcome parents in to our crew this morning. Crew MI have created posters about themselves to display on our door for September.

We’ve also had enjoyed our maths lesson this morning where we recapped our methods for short and long multiplication and played a board game. It was tricky when we landed on a challenge square but we worked together as mini crews to solve them.

Year 3/4 transition week update!
What a great start to our new Year 3/4 classes. After a bit of settling in, we have been able to complete some Crew building activities. We built spaghetti and marshmallow towers – the aim was to build the highest structure we could with the same amount of items. This has helped us feel more comfortable with each other!

Throughout the week, so far, we have also been looking at the book Small Things. We have been having many discussions about feelings and worries, in order to help settle us. These interesting discussions have been a fantastic way of getting to know our new Crews and how we can help them feel better when they aren’t quite feeling themselves!

Keep your eyes peeled for the rest of the week, where we will share our sketches of London monuments. This is preparing us for our new Expedition in Autumn! 👀👀
Bullying poems
Today Crew Shields have been working on writing poems about the negatives of bullying. This is building on from the learning we started yesterday after watching a video that had themes around bullying and disabilities. We’ve discussed how we should build each other up, not tear them down.
Marvellous Maths
Great fun had by all this morning as practiced our timetables. Children were able to play board games that allowed them to use their timetable knowledge but also demonstrate their be kind howl. So lovely seeing the children working together while also supporting each other to be successful.
A carousel of maths in MI
Before we started transition week, we got to work on some times tables practise. We took part in a carousel of activities including bingo with Mrs McClare, rapid recall of all our times tables, times tables rockstar work and a number card game. We worked against a timer, pushing ourselves whilst concentrating on each task. Great work Crew MI 🙂
