MTC Practice
Yr 4 is all systems go as we prepare for our MTC test later this year. We have been split into 4 groups and we take part in a carousel of activities each day to ensure we know our timetables and will be confident with them when the time comes to complete our MTC.
Fractions of shapes ✂️
This week, in magic maths, we have been looking at halving and quartering shapes. We talked about each part must be equal. We talked about how 2 parts or 4 parts make a whole shape.
Divide by 6
In arithmetic this afternoon, we were learning how to divide by 6. We have found this a little tricky as we struggled to see how many groups of 6 we could make especially if there were some left over. We got some cubes out so we could physically group it into 6. We’ll continue to work on this in our next arithmetic lesson.
What day is it today?
Crew Godley continued with their maths units, time, today, recognising and ordering the days of the week. We were super smart with this and confidently ordered, discussed and problem solved too! We loved singing the days of the weeks song 🎶

Before, next and after 🕰️
Crew Godley have begun their new maths unit this week, Time. To begin with with delved into the language – before, first, next, after, then and finally! We ordered sequences of events and used sentences to articulate ours and other actions. We were very confident and carried out lots of activities to consolidate our knowledge.
The Magic of Magic Maths 🧮
Crew MI have been working really hard this week consolidating their knowledge on place value, arithmetic and shape. Drip feeding this every day is really helping us to remember.
Number Day 2024 in Crew MW! 🔢
This morning in crew we went on a number hunt around school to find the digits 1 to 10. We worked hard to use our magnet eyes to make sure we found all the digits. Once we had collected them all, we took them back to the classroom and worked as a crew to put them in the correct order. We did a fantastic job and managed to successfully order the numbers!
Recognising 6, 7 and 8
In maths, we have started looking at the numbers 6, 7 and 8. To start us off, we worked together in small groups to sort different representations of each number. We talked about what we could see and why we thought it represented a certain number. If we felt we had made any mistakes, we discussed it together and corrected our choices.
