Crew Shields – 12/11/21
It has been a busy week within Crew Shields as we have continued with out Non fiction writing. As part of the plot point, the children had to write about children during the Industrial Revolution. To give children the opportunity to experience hard work and develop some empathy for these children, we were lucky enough this week to work alongside Mr Hull. He put the children to work using a pickaxe to break down some rubble, scrubbing the outside classroom and washing the tables. While using the pickaxe, the children soon got tired after a minute.

In expedition, we have been exploring whether materials or dissolvable and how to separate materials. The children were astonished how easy it was to separate a range of materials. Evaporation,

This morning the children have built their shelters and learned how to start fires. The children had to work collaboratively to ensure they were successful in the task. It was lovely seeing them using their speaking and listening skills.

Friday Fun!
This morning in Crew Nursery we have worked really hard to make some more fantastic firework art!
The children explored using carrots with paint and glitter to make different marks on their paper, we talked about colour mixing and counted how many fireworks we had made.

BBK – What can we find out about Watt?
Researching the life of inventor James Watt in Y6.

🎼Crew
In Crew Lucas thought it would be very fitting to play ‘the soldier’ as today is remembrance day. Thank you for showing off your talents Lucas, crew loved it! 👏🏼

Experimenting with dissolving
We have explored the different solutes that can be dissolved to become a solution this week. We realised that the hotter the temperature of the soluble, the quicker the materials dissolve and become a solution. Here we are experimenting with coffee and cold water. It looked like the solute had dissolved, but when we looked closer, there were still parts of the solute (coffee) at the bottom of the jar!

Paying our respects
At 11am, KS1 stopped to pay their respects. We have been looking at the significance of poppies during crew time this week.
We were really proud of the children.

Remembering the fallen in FS2.
The children have been very empathetic this morning and have shown true kindness in regards to Remembrance Day. They have created lots of poppy crafts and have had beautiful discussions about feelings and how we can all support each other.
Well done FS2.
And we’re off!
Our KS1 are already working hard on their 100 laps

Maths week in Crew Mcloughlin
Today we were super engaged in our PE lesson and loved every minute! 🏀✖️➗Coach had planned numerous maths problems for us to solve as a crew and set up PE activities for us to work through in order to complete our tasks! We were challenged with number problems to solve, used our maths skills to solve them, and had various physical activities to complete.🧠🏃♀️We worked really hard to solve these and got smart in the process.
