Magnificent Monday!

Today we launched our new expedition; Who lives on Old McDonald’s farm? This meant we had some very exciting visitors in school!

Farmer Ian very kindly brought us lots of animals for to see! We met Fred the tortoise 🐢, Jessica the goat 🐐, Quack and Quackers the ducks 🦆, Meg the dog 🐕 and even Marshmallow who is an alpaca 🦙 as well as sheep, rabbits and guineapigs!

Farmer Ian taught us all about where the animals live and what they like to eat! We then got to brush the donkey and pony as well as play with Meg! She was very clever and knew lots of tricks!

Fred the tortoise was a big hit with the children. Farmer Ian let him have a walk on our field and we had to keep finding him in the long grass, can you spot him?

Make sure you keep your eyes 👀 peeled at the end of the week for This Week in the Phase to see even more of our very exciting day!

Today’s HOWL hero’s were:

Getting Smart: SJ

Working Hard: Teddy

Being Kind: Roseanne

Well done everyone ❤️ Our HoWL average was 3.1! Great start to the term Crew Godley 🙂

Another busy and happy day in Crew, such a positive start to Summer term. The children have settled quickly back into school life ❤️

We spent most of our day outside today enjoying the fresh air. We used lots of equipment and our imaginations to build dens! It was so much fun and we found lots of things to do in them like using pots and pans to make music!

We made loud sounds to keep the Wicked Witch if the West at bay 🧙‍♀️ and quiet sounds so we didn’t scare Toto 🐶

HoWL hero: Today’s HoWL hero was Reggie for working hard. Reggie worked hard to show green standard today. I’m so proud of him ❤️

It was so lovely to have our crew back together today!

Highlight of the day: We started off our new term with crew building in PE. We worked as a great team to ensure we put all of the fruit into our yummy fruit salad. We helped each other to complete the tasks and cheered each other on to show their support!

HoWL Hero: Today’s HoWL hero was Shelby for being kind. Shelby showed real maturity outside when sharing resources and worked together with her peers.

We had a lovely day celebrating Easter 🐣 We started off with delicious hot cross buns for breakfast this morning, we really enjoyed them!

We couldn’t let the day pass us by without an egg rolling completion. We decorated our eggs 🥚 and had a marvellous time rolling them down the hill, despite the heavens opening ☔️🌧 We had a great time!

A very special visitor hopped on by, the Easter bunny! He had hidden eggs outside so we went on an Easter egg hunt 🐇

Have a lovely Easter 🐣 everyone ♥️

Thursday ✅

Another day where the children have amazed me 🥰 some fantastic maths problem solving today and getting smart in phonics. The children have been teaching each other today speed sounds and blending CVC words. It’s lovely to see them enjoying their learning ♥️

Todays HoWL heroes were:

Working hard: SJ and Skyla produced some beautiful writing today. They worked so hard to form their letters beautifully and write all the sounds they could hear. Well done 👏🏻

HoWL average: 3.2, a slight increase today. Let’s see if we can get it to 3.5 tomorrow!

Work hard Wednesday 💪🏻

This week we’ve been carrying out our little tasks to see how well we are working towards achieving ‘green standard’ at the end of EYFS. I’m absolutely thrilled by the amount of progress the children are making, especially in reading. I can really see a difference in the children’s confidence and fluency. Thank you to those parents at home who continue to help their children at home with phonics, it really does make a difference!

HoWL heroes today were this lovely lot 🥰 great work today in phonics. They were confident with their speed sounds and as Lydia said, ‘I’m a word reader now’ 🥰 You all make me so proud ♥️

HoWL average: 3 🙌🏼🙌🏼 Another great day crew, keep up the great work.

Tuesday ✅

We’ve worked hard, to get smart today 🙌🏼 We’ve had such a lovely day in crew and I was so amazed by the children settling and getting on with their work.

We have been recalling facts about our solar system today and answering our expedition guiding question, ‘Can we go to infinity and beyond?’ I was amazed by the children’s knowledge and understanding. We can’t wait to share our final product with you all 🚀 🌝 ⭐️ 👽 Shelby started to create her own rocket creation to fly the alien back to the moon.

HoWL hero today was:

Be Kind ♥️ : Prince. Prince set a fantastic example today of what ‘green standard’ looks like. He was sat beautifully, listened carefully and followed instructions. He tidied the classroom perfectly and helped his crew in other areas ⭐️

HoWL average: 3 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼 Great start to the week crew, we even had done children achieving fours today ♥️ I can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings.

Fun Friday 🙌

What a fantastic day we’ve had celebrating Red Nose Day 🔴

Star moment of the day: ⭐ Today’s ‘star moment’ has to be the effort that children and parents went to to celebrate Red Nose Day ❤️ The children all looked amazing dressed in their red clothes today! They were so excited to show their friends. We spoke about those children less fortunate and we cane up with lovely ideas of how to support each other in times of need.

HoWL heroes:

Today we couldn’t choose one HoWL hero, so we all had a HoWL hero for being kind. This was for the lovely suggestions made in crew about how to help those less fortunate.

Have a lovely weekend everyone, see you on Tuesday ❤️😌

Thursday ❤️
I am so proud of our crew today and their work hard attitude. This week we have been developing our expeditionary protocols and have perfected ‘whip arounds’, we decided to take this one step further and practise ‘popcorn’. This is a trickier protocol as the children have to use a lot of key skills such as observing other children, listening carefully and thinking whilst ‘popping’. I was absolutely amazed by how well the children were able to ‘pop’ and suggest comments and ideas about a given subject. Well done Crew!

The children enjoyed sorting healthy and unhealthy food today to make their astronaut lunch. We had some fantastic quotes from the children, I was blown away by their knowledge and understanding.

HoWL hero today was……

Be Kind – Noah. Noah always sets a great example in crew. He is kind and caring and very supportive of his crew members. When another child was unsure today, he exclaimed, ‘you can do it, have a try’ this spurred the other child on through his kind words and encouragement. Well down Noah ❤️

HoWL score:

3.1 another great score, keep up the great work Crew Godley

Work hard Wednesday ✔

Highlight of the day:

The alien landed in our classroom! We think he was trying to get back into the rocket, we decided that its time to create spaceships for the alien to get back to Mars as his arm has healed and he is desperate to see his Crew back home. We created some designs outside using chalk, they were out of this world! We can’t wait to start creating them tomorrow.

Howl Heroes:

Work Hard: This goes to Zach for demonstrating his positive attitude towards his learning by working hard in phonics with Miss Tabone.

Get Smart: This goes to Shelby for her beautiful display writing today, she really took her time to make sure it was beautiful work.

Howl Average:

2.94 – a little drop from yesterday’s score however we have our targets ready for tomorrow and hopefully we will see that score rise back up to a solid three.
