Mathstars 🤘🎸➗✖️
Crew Mcloughlin was full of mathstars today. We started the morning off by creating arithmetic anchor charts in mini-crews to help us with our learning; these now look great on our maths working wall and we can refer to them all of the time. We then put our knowledge to the test in a kahoot arithmetic quiz.
Timestable Rockstars within EYFS!
We have had lots of fun looking at Numberblocks and numbers to 10 today. We made 10 with the numicon and used our maths resources to answer tricky questions. We have had lots of fun!
Check out our amazing outfits and hair!
Crew Shields – Maths Mania
Itβs been a numbers kind of day in Crew Shields.

The children have took part in the TTRS Battle of the Bands with other schools. It is lovely seeing their confidence grow with their timetables.

Children had the opportunity to play maths board games with their peers. Not only could they consolidate their maths, they could build their crew relationships and communication. We even had some children support each other through the game rather than being competitive. Great Crew!

Have a lovely weekend Crew Shields 😀
What is it about PE?
Everyone knows that PE is one of the best parts of the week but I thought youβd like to see why. We do get on well together though, donβt worry!

Active Arithmetic (3.2.21)🔢
Year 3 have had a fantastic morning of active arithmetic. We worked collaboratively to consolidate some of our skills, such as addition and subtraction. We really loved it and supported our peers well!
Discovering rainforest tribes
Whilst reading about the Yanomami tribes, we generated facts, opinions and questions that we would like answering…
During academic crew, we critiques this fractions map and wondered how we can use tools like this at home to get smarter!
Dissecting flowers 🌷
We have started our science lesson today by dissecting a tulip and labelling the parts. We loved this and cannot wait to finish learning about pollination and the life cycle of a flowering plant tomorrow!
We are architects!
Crew nursery have been learning to plan and design buildings this week! They have designed their own buildings and thought carefully about how they could make them interesting. Some children added slides and flag poles while others included a swimming pool! The children thought about the shape of the windows on their buildings, with some opting to have circular windows like those that are seen on pirate ships!
EYFS Trip to Austerfield Study Centre.
The children within crew FE had an absolute brilliant day yesterday on their first school trip. After looking closely at the three little pigs during their expedition learning the staff at the centre devised several activities to further embed this knowledge and encourage the children to build on their knowledge to answer the guiding question βin a world of possibilities what would you make?β
The children had the chance to build their own houses in a real forrest using the same materials as the three little pigs. They worked in mini crews to create their structures and afterwards tested them against the blowing strength of the big bad wolf.
After lunch the children went on a trail to find jigsaw pieces which led to a story den. They were able to use a map and their orienteering skills to locate the different areas where the pieces were hidden. By listening to each other they were bale to work smart and together found pieces which made 4 jigsaws all linking to traditional story tales.
The children were a real create to Carcroft school and a pleasure to have on a school visit.
