Designing a Christmas Card – SYP
Rackets 🏓
Today Y1 got introduced to a racket and how to use it. We played lots of different games with our rackets to get used to how to hold it. I was so impressed and can’t wait to build on this next week.
Independent writing in MI
Today children completed a piece of independent writing. They all wrote a character description on Audrey, one of the characters from The Lorax. They thought about Audrey’s appearance and personality. Children used their chotting sheets well to support them along with their target grids. Well done MI 🙂
Art in MI
Today we started to think about the art work that will be part of our photo frames for our final product. We looked at and discussed a picture that we will be using as a stimulus then we gave some critique to Mrs McClare based on her model. We had a go at drawing the outline on our picture before using oil pastels to create our patterns. We really enjoyed starting this piece of work and everyone is eager to do more!
MI working hard on arithmetic gaps
Today we started to unpick our arithmetic test from last week, working on some of the questions we answered incorrectly.
World kindness day in MI :)
Today in crew we started to think about world kindness day. We worked in mini crews to think about what extra little things we could do throughout the day. We also kick started anti bullying week where we showed the rest of the crew our odd socks.
Odd Sock Day 🧦
We have enjoyed learning about why we wear odd socks during anti-bullying week and even rocked out to Andy and the Odd Socks!
Anti-bullying week in Crew Pashley
Today in Crew Pashley, for anti-bullying week, we discussed ‘friendly’ and ‘unfriendly’ behaviours and sorted these into the two groups. We talked about how these actions would make us feel!
Making Gingerbread Houses 🏠
Today for our experience lesson we learnt that Hansel and Gretel stumbled upon a gingerbread house deep in the forest. We couldn’t resist having a go at making our own. The children worked collaboratively to build their houses which proved quite tricky!
Year 2 Police Visit 👮♀️
Today we were visited by PCSO Barker and PC Parish to learn more about their jobs and why they are heroes in our community. They spoke to us about the two areas of their job, caring and controlling. They shared how they much prefer caring and keeping us safe.
