Paul Chrystal Author Visit (13.6.22) 📚
Today, LKS2 were very lucky to have local author Paul Chrystal lead a discussion about our Guiding Question. Mr Chrystal has published over 120 books and we wanted to get his expertise on sweets, of which he had tonnes of knowledge to offer. During the talk, Mr Chrystal looked answered the Guiding Question ‘Why is sugar not so sweet?’ through a health angle. He talked us through how sugar is not always the healthiest, even though we all love sweets.
Thanks for a great talk Mr Chrystal, I know LKS2 appreciated the knowledge and tips to enjoy sweets healthily. Check out our images below for how the talk looked! 😆
Historians in the making!

KS1 have been putting their interviewing skills to the test! We were fortunate enough to interview Mrs Brentnall, a past pupil of Carcroft School, 77 years ago! Check out our Expedition page to find out more!

LKS2 Jars!
Hi everyone,
As part of our Expedition, we are hoping that instead of recycling your jam jars, Year 3 and 4 would be able to have them!
They could be the size of jam jars, preferably, as a reference.
Thank you in advance,
Crew LKS2 🙂
Newspaper planning in MI
Today we started planning our newspaper reports. We thought about a catchy headline and tried to use alliteration. We thought about the 5 W’s creating our introduction. When then chotted down ideas for PP1 and PP2. Great work by all this morning 🙂
KS1 Beamish Trip. – Wednesday 15th June 2022
As part of our Summer Term expedition, the KS1 children are visiting the Beamish Museum in Durham.
The visit will be a full day where the children will have the opportunity to see what school was like in the past. Children will also have the opportunity to discover the games of the playground and take part in an infant lesson in the kindergarten of a Victorian school. Beamish also presents a unique insight into the living and working experiences of life in the Great North offering unrivalled learning opportunities.
Children will need to arrive at school by 7:45am
The coach will need to leave promptly at approximately 8:00am
Please ensure that children are wearing their RED Carcroft school uniform and sensible shoes (there will be a lot of walking !) The weather is also forecast to be quite hot, so children may want to have suncream applied.
Children will also need to bring a water bottle and a rucksack to carry their school-packed lunch in.
The children will be provided with a packed lunch from school and a small snack for the journey. Children do not need to bring any money, sweets or snacks.
The coach will return to Carcroft at about 5:00pm
Thanks
KS1 Team

Science in MI
This week in our expedition lessons we took part in a science experiment that linked to the work we have done around the heart. We took part in some physical activity and recorded our heart rate after different amounts of exercise. We then analysed our results and discussed the effect of exercise on the heart and our daily lives.
Battleships in Crew MI
We had great fun in maths yesterday. We learnt how to read, write and plot co-ordinates so we put all of this into practice and played Battleships!
