Crew Wilson

We’ve had a great start to our week in Crew Wilson!

Jumping backwards down the number line to support the concept of one less

Exploring segregation in expedition this afternoon – Blue eyed children were treated differently to brown eyed children, we realised this is discrimination and we made a stand to be kind to everyone regardless of their characteristics.

Work Hard – Dylan – A little superstar today, smashing his learning and working so hard in every lesson

Get Smart – Levi – Using his listening ears to make sure he could properly understand what was been discussed in maths

Be Kind – Joshua – For not joining in with saying unkind things to the blue eyed children in expedition, even though the rest of the brown eyed children were.

Week 5 completed in Crew Fox ✅.

We’ve got better this week at editing our writing and checking our content with a peers support. This is taking us a bit of time to get used to but we’re getting there! We are also working hard in our pairs across the different subjects. This is getting better as we are trying to focus more and work better with one another…

During maths, we’ve used Kahoot quizzes to time ourselves when answering questions. This is going to help us improve our pace! We are also getting quicker at our magic math sessions, working on our counting, place value and other arithmetic skills!

Today was our second session of Scotty’s Heroes. We are getting fitter physically and mentally after these sessions… it’s tough but we are loving it 😅

Our HOWL average was 2.2 (beating last weeks 2.1) which means we get to spin the wheel for a reward!!

Have a great weekend everyone,

This week in Crew Tucker… 1/10/2021

This week has been another busy one for Crew Tucker and the children have continued to make us laugh with their jokes and witty comments and to make us proud with how keen they are to Work Hard, Get Smart and Be Kind.

In writing we have been continuing our Viking narratives, retelling the terror of the Viking raid in Lindisfarne. The children have worked hard to include a range of literary features – fronted adverbials (always followed by a comma!), conjunctions, similes and ambitious vocabulary (words that will make us say, “Wow!”).

In maths we have been learning how to add using the column method. It’s safe to say we found this a little tricky to begin with, but by using concrete resources and pictures to reinforce our understanding the children were able to persevere and make progress. We will be continuing to work on this next week as adding larger numbers is so important in Key Stage Two.

Our HOWLs this week have dropped a little, but this is not because we have not been trying hard; it is because we are getting better at being honest and critiquing ourselves. Yes, we want our HOWLs to be as high as possible, but only if these are a true reflection of how we are doing. This is so important if we are going to strive to be the best versions of ourselves.

Keep up the hard work Crew Tucker and have a great weekend!
