We are Scientists..🥼

Today we have had a look at what humans and animals need to survive.

We learnt that humans need – air, food, water, shelter, space and sleep.

We learnt that animals need – air, food, water and shelter.

We then organised wants and needs and learnt that we want things like game consoles, phones and toys but we need water and food.

Story telling in Crew MW

To finish off our week of ‘The Three Billy Goats Gruff’, Crew MW invited their siblings into their classroom to tell them the story that we’d been learning. We used our bridges, trolls and other props to tell the story, and repeated familiar phrases like, ‘Who’s that trip trapping over my bridge?!’ to show what each character said. We had so much fun with our brothers and sisters!

We are Geographers 🌎

Today in our expeditionary work we explored the UK and the physical and human features of a village, town and city. The children compared the geographical features and explained how and why these differed. This led to some beautiful discussions around the children’s experiences – especially those children that had visited London. The difference between Doncaster and London city, particularly the difference in population and the transport.
Aubree and Lily-Rose produced some beautiful work which we were so proud of, carefully explains the differences between human and physical features. They were defining working hard, to get smart!

Counting to a hundred 🧮

This week, Crew Godley have started their new unit in maths, place value to 100. The children showed they were able to apply what they already knew about the number system to complete some tricky number lines. We had to think carefully if the numbers were increasing or decreasing in size ⬇️⬆️

Doncaster past or present?

In expedition this afternoon, children explored different places and things in Doncaster and discussed whether this was in the past or the present. We discussed whether these features were human or physical features. We also discussed the population of Doncaster and what impact this has.

Building Bridges!

Today in expedition, we built bridges for our billy goats to cross the river. We started by looking at some bridges that other children had made and looking at the equipment that they had used to create them. Then we worked with a partner to decide what equipment we would use to create our own bridges. We looked at which resources would make strong bridges and why they would be strong, before getting to work and building with our partners! Have a look at our creations…
