The children in Crew FE used modelling clay to create the composition of the Earth. As a crew we discussed the layers of the Earth and how they are different. Some children even asked questions to further their own knowledge which was wonderful, such as: Is the Earth’s core hotter than the sun?

The children in Crew FE thoroughly enjoyed their Crew challenge this week. It was lovely to see them communicating effectively to try and draw the same picture. The children were able to discuss which parts of the task were simple and which they found difficult. Well done everyone!
Crew Godley have been working hard in magic maths on one more and less, whilst also perfecting their number recognition and formation. We’ve worked so hard to ensure we are really listening to the quick fire questions. It was lovely to see the children collaborate and check each others understanding 🔢

PE this week has involved children continuing to practice their throwing skills for cricket. They had a new coach this week so it was lovely to see them full engaged in the activity.

Today, we have had the opportunity to learn more about the conditions working in the mines which are extremely unpleasant.
Children worked in pairs to read a number of sources before having to retrieve the important information. They were able to find the conditions in the mines but also the detrimental effects these had on people’s health conditions.
When we had collected the information, we have collated it into an anchor chart for the working wall.

During our second expedition lesson, the children learned about some of the job roles from the mines. They were then challenged to read the information and act out the job. The rest of the crew had to guess the role based on the actions. Well done to everyone for getting involved and performing to the rest of the crew.
In Crew Welburn this week, Aubree found a tiny key! We have been talking about what they key might be used for. We have come to the conclusion that it is for a tiny fairy door that we have found in our blossom tree! We listened very carefully to the tree yesterday and we could hear music coming from behind the door! Aubree wrote a letter to the fairies last night, and to our surprise, the fairy wrote back to her! We’ve given the fairy gifts of bagels and flowers today and lots of us have written her letters today.
I wonder what we will find at school tomorrow…

Crew McLoughlin and Crew Boswell enjoyed todays P.E lesson with Coach Dawid and have been practicing bowling skills for cricket.
