We spent the morning making our healthy pizzas, ready for our parents to come in and taste them with us! We started by washing our hands and making sure that everything we needed was clean and ready to use. We chose different toppings that needed cutting and used our cutting skills to make them easier to put on our bases. Then, we added the sauce to our base before adding the cheese and the toppings we had prepared.

Once we added our toppings, Miss McGlone put them in the oven. Look how yummy they looked when they came out!

When our grown ups arrived it was finally time for the taste test – we had waited all morning for this moment! It was worth it because they tasted delicious! 😋

So that we could make healthy pizzas, we needed to visit Carcroft Stores to gather all of our ingredients. We needed to get wraps for the base, passata for the sauce, as well as all of the toppings we wanted! We made sure we had our baskets and trolleys ready to fill with lots of items before taking them to the cashier so we could pay and pack our items into our bags.

As we continued with our expedition, we talked about different foods and drinks that are healthy and good for our bodies and things that are not so good if we have a lot of them regularly.

We’ve been discussing the different sounds we might hear in our environment. We wrapped up warm and decided to go on a sound hunt around our outdoor area. It was a little bit quiet at first and all we could hear were the birds tweeting in the trees but then we started to hear more and more sounds around us – cars and vans, a dog barking, the older children playing on their playground, and even a plane in the sky! The loudest sound we heard was the fan from the kitchen, we huddled around the gate to get a closer look at where the noise was coming from!

This week in maths we have been learning about money and the value of different coins. Today we worked in pairs to work out how much money was in different jars pinned around the room. I was very impressed with their knowledge and addition skills. I wonder if you could practice making different amounts of money at home?
The children who access Tutormate had a lovely afternoon meeting some of the lovely volunteers who read with them each week. They spoke to their tutor, listened to a story and even told some jokes. It was lovely to hear the tutors talk about how well the children are doing with their reading.

We have been creating pictures using different healthy fruits to print. Some of us even used some of the foods like a paintbrush and made other patterns and designs on our paper! The corn on the cob made a fun pattern when we rolled it like a rolling pin!

Using healthy vegetables to make our very own Mr Potato Heads! We had to think about how we could attach each part to the potato, making sure that we were keeping ourselves and others safe by using the cocktail sticks carefully. We really enjoyed this activity!
