This week we made hedgehog fans. The children really enjoyed making these and they want to do it again in the summer.

National Story Telling Week
Crew Robson and Crew Welburn ended National Story Telling Week by sharing stories together in Crew Welburn this morning. The Year 2 children came down to Crew Welburn with some of their favourite stories to share and read them to our foundation children. Thank you for coming Crew Robson, we really enjoyed having you!

Developing our gross motor skills
Crew Godley have worked really hard this morning to develop their gross motor skills. We used our muscles we’ve been exploring in expedition to move across the trim trail.

Storytelling with EYFS
Crew Godley shared some our favourite stories with Crew McGone today. It was so lovely to see our younger children showing kindess and respect to each other. We all demonstrated lovely listening skills 📚🥰 and we can’t wait to return next week 🥰

Setting description
Today, we have started our writing unit for Case study 2 which will involve a setting description for the ’I have a dream’ speech by Martin Luther King.
We have spent time today starting to use the lens to generate ideas for aspects we could write about and some ideas for figurative language. In our next lesson, we’ll be starting to put these ideas into complete sentences so we have had practice and opportunities to magpie from our peers.

Vocabulary Game
This morning in reading, we’ve enjoyed playing imposter.
During the game, the children had to find either the antonym or synonym that matched their word. This really got the children’s brains working as some of the words are words they may not use day to day. I was very impressed with how they completed the activity because they moved around sensibly, used great communication until they found their matching word and we found the imposter (word without a match).

A big thanks for our new books!
Crew Marsh would like to give a massive thank you to one of our tutormate volunteers who has bought everyone in Crew Marsh a reading book and bookmark to take home with them.
What a lovely way to end world storytelling week!

Pizza Party!
As part of our expedition in Crew Welburn, we have been looking at how to keep our bodies healthy. As part of this, we have explored making healthy pizzas! Thank you to all of the grown ups who came into school to taste test our pizzas! The children were all really excited and loved having you in!

We’re looking for a 1:1 SEN Learning Coach at Carcroft School!
Are you passionate about improving the life chances of young people, by supporting their social, emotional and academic needs, and developing the whole child?
