Yorkshire Wildlife Park – Thursday (13.1.22) 🦁🐅🐾

Hi everyone!

We just wanted to provide an update for the Yorkshire Wildlife Park!

The children need to be at school at the usual time, so please ensure that children are on time in order to get the registers and final groupings sorted.

Please ensure that children come in their school uniforms and appropriate bottoms. For example black bottoms, black leggings and sensible foot wear. They will need to be wrapped up warm and preferably wearing their red Carcroft hoodies, as other schools will be there on the day also.

If the children are having packed lunches, we recommend that they wear a back pack, so that they can carry it around with them during the day.

We will return to school for the usual home time, but there will be an update if there are any delays!

Thanks,

LKS2 😃

Crew MI

We have had a very busy day in Crew MI!

In reading the children used their inference skills to think about images and how they may relate to our new text. There were some fantastic ideas and children shared their thoughts really well.

In writing we watched part of the film The Lorax. We thought about how the film linked to our guiding question in expedition and we completed a role on the wall thinking about the characters appearance and personality. Again some great ideas!

In expedition we became geographers where we explored compass points and maps. We thought about what countries are on the equator along with exploring the tropics.

In maths we practised our timetables, divided numbers by ten and added decimals. We then moved onto looking at multiples. We worked on varied fluency questions first then challenged ourselves with some reasoning and problem solving questions.

Tomorrow I would like to see our howl score improve, we have pledged for this to be a 3. I really hope we can show this.

Home Learning

So many of our crew have been so excited by their home learning this week! Well done to those children who’ve completed so many of the tasks, we’ve seen some fantastic progress, especially on Times Tables Rockstars 🎸

Homework sheets will be sent home on a Monday, please return these on a Friday. A simple tick on the bottom column for reading will show us that you’ve read with your child for 10mins a day, this could be using one of the apps which are on the home learning menu, a favourite book or even a reading challenge you set them!

We use all of the apps in school so the children are familiar with them 😊

Keep up the great work everyone!

PE Day Update

Crew Godley’s PE days are on a Wednesday and a Friday for this half term 😊

Can all parents and carers please ensure children are in the correct uniform for PE. We do have spare PE kits for those children who may need one. Our PE kit is as follows:

Plain dark tracksuit bottoms or leggings (shorts in summer)   – White / Red t-shirt / with or without a logo  – Red jumper/or sweatshirt hoodie with or without logo  – Plain black trainers / plain black pump style shoes (for girls).

Thank you for your continued support 😊

Welcome back KS1!

KS1 Crews were so excited to launch their new expeditions this week, ‘The Circle of Life – How will what I do today impact the world tomorrow?’

The children were hooked into their learning by working together as artists and sculptors to create their own own ocean dioramas, craft sea creatures and participated in a virtual author workshop to learn how to create some of the beautiful illustrations that we found in our core text ‘The Blue Giant’. We have some budding artists! Keep you eyes peeled for the finished ocean dioramas on Monday!

This week we visit The Deep, in Hull. We can’t wait to go on an ocean adventure!

Have a lovely weekend, everyone 😊

Shout out for beautiful work

Lucas is so proud of his arithmetic work that he wanted it to be shown on our blog 🤩 He’s responded to critique about presentation and worked like a superstar to show off how he can ➖✖️And ➗
