Independent writing in MI

Over the last 2 days children have been busy planning and writing their first plot point for their independent writing. This is a diary entry and children have taken on the role of a character from the narrative we are reading in our reading lessons- Pig Heart Boy. They have used their target grids effectively to apply a range of features and the plot point they have produced is of real quality! I can’t wait to read plot point 2!

Our crew howl score today has also been one of our highest yet! 3.4! I still think we can improve this further!

LKS2 – Solids, liquids and gases (17.5.22) 👨‍🔬👩‍🔬

Today, LKS2 had a great day of learning about solids, liquids and gases. We first acted out how the particles move in these different states to fully understand how they move.

We then listed all the different types of solids, liquids and gases to see what range of types they could see. After this, we completed a worksheet showing off our learning and drew a diagram of the particles. Some of us even challenged ourselves to reach green to describe how particles move!

Crew MI Reading Cafe

On Thursday, we had a lovely morning at the Reading Cafe. We have started our new book ‘Pig Heart Boy’ and read the first two chapters with ‘cuppa a biscuit’

Another great day in crew Fox

Yesterday we gained a 3 in our HOWLs and have maintained this today too!

We have played rounders in the sunshine with lots of us getting full rounds – we have positive attitudes and challenged ourselves.

Have a look at our great sketches of the plague doctor. We are proud of our beautiful work.

Science in MI

Today we started our science case study! We explored new vocabulary and thought about what we already know about the circulatory system! We then watched a video clip to explore how the heart works.

We also started our independent writing today. We built sentences on post it notes using the target grids we had created then started writing our first chunk. We tried really hard to think about our year 5 rubric.

What’s all the commotion in Crew Nursery?

Our new topic book is called ‘Commotion in the Ocean’, we have enjoyed reading the story and seeing if we can make different movements like the sea creatures in the book.

Our focus this week is rock pools, during morning crew we looked at different types of rocks and talked about how they look and feel.

In provision we explored how rocks change when they get wet, in the tough tray we played ‘I spy’ using magnifying glasses and in the playdough we created rockpool creatures.

We also has lots of fun recreating the ‘Punch and Judy’ puppet show we watched last week, the children did a great job of remembering all the different parts.

LKS2 Fire Safety (12.5.22) 🔥

Yesterday, LKS2 enjoyed a very informative chat about fire safety. It was clear that the children already knew how to be safe if there was ever an emergency, but also they were able to learn new ideas. They learned that the fire department don’t just deal with fires, but also serious car crashes. Years 3 and 4 loved singing along to the fire safety songs. Thanks for a great session!
