What a pleasure it was taking Y3/4 children to play dodgeball. It was great to see the progression from playing their first game to playing the last. We placed 2nd and 4th in our mini tournaments. Well done Carcroft!

Crucial Crew
Today we have participated in some thought provoking sessions and learnt skills for life to help us stay safe within the community. Here’s a few snippets.
Spring is here!
Crew nursery have been looking for signs of spring this week! They have noticed that the weather is much warmer and that the sun is shining. The children have been discussing the animals, plants and insects that they might see in spring. They have planted their own sunflower seeds and they went on an exciting bug hunt! They found snails and ladybirds in Carcroft’s ‘Bugingham Palace’. The children used the play dough to create spring chicks and they used their building skills to design and make safe houses for chicks in the construction area.
Y4 PE tomorrow 23/3/22
Hi all, all of year 4 should come in their PE kits tomorrow whether they are playing dodgeball or not.

Basketball Tournament (22.3.22) 🏀🏀
LKS2 were lucky to hold a basketball tournament at school today and they played brilliantly well. We came up against some tough opponents in the glorious weather today, but I couldn’t be prouder of the effort the children showed. They never once gave up, tried their very best and played with a smile. We came 3rd and 4th, but will only keep on improving. Well done for your effort guys and keep up it up!
Design and Technology in Crew MI
Today we continued our expedition lessons by looking at tool safety and thinking about some of the equipment and materials we will use to create our photo frames. We all had a go at using a saw to cut a piece of wood. We then used sand paper to ensure the sides of our wood were smooth. We also used wood glue to join some of the wood together. We evaluated the process thinking about praises, notices and wonders. We are all looking forward to creating our own photo frames during the rest of the week.
Research in Crew MI
Today we started to think about our next piece of writing, a monologue. We discussed what this was and looked at different examples, unpicking features. We then decided which animal we would base our monologue on then started researching facts on our animals appearance, diet, habitat and why it is classed as vulnerable. We are looking forward to continuing our research tomorrow!

Crew MI final product
We had a lovely proud moment on Friday for our Fantastic Friday Crew! We shared our final product for our last expedition ‘How have trains been on a journey of change?’ Crew MI are proud to say that we are now published authors. Hope you have had a lovely weekend and enjoyed looking at our beautiful work. Well done everyone 🙂
We need your help – Crew Shields
Over the next 2 weeks, the crew will be completing their Final product which has DT focus. They have designed their product and used natural resources to decorate but we need your help…
If you happen to be out and about, especially now the sun has made an appearance. We would really appreciate any of the following items;
Small stones/pebbles
Leaves
flowers that could potentially be dried
shells
twigs
sand
Cut off of any ribbons/wool – bits that would normally be thrown out
Any other natural material that could be used as a decoration on an item approx A5.
The children can bring these in or I’m on the door in the mornings and afternoon.
