Its 25 years since world book day started so we will be celebrating on Friday 4th March. Children can dress up as their favourite book character.

Acting Headteacher Announcement

Dear Parents and Carers,

It has been an absolute privilege to take on the role of Acting Headteacher at Carcroft School. I am writing today to inform you that Miss Laing will be returning to school as Headteacher on Monday 21st February and I will return to my previous role of Assistant Headteacher – Inclusion Leader.

I would like to thank the staff, children and parents for how supportive they have been during this time. This support has meant that leaders, supported by the XP Trust, have been able to continue to drive school improvement forward.

Each and every member of the Carcroft Crew strives to deliver the best education possible as this is what our children truly deserve. I am proud of the progress school has achieved during my time as Acting Headteacher and am looking to forward to working with Miss Laing, and other leaders, to build on this further when she returns.

Have a great half term everyone and see you all when we return on the 21st.

Kind regards,

James Tucker

Kind Crew

The children in nursery have been making pledges to look after the resources in their classroom and keep their learning spaces tidy this week. Archie, Lincoln and Ralphie have been showing stewardship by organising and tidying the construction area, even when they haven’t been working in there. We are proud of them and they are proud of their ‘I’m Being Kind’ stickers.

WOW living streets

Carcroft School has recently signed up to living streets, this is where the children get rewarded for walking to school once a week, every week in a month. The children can then earn a badge each month and hopefully will earn all 11!

Living streets closely links to all of our expeditions: looking at how we can help to protect our planet. Walking to school at least once week is a great way for us to help the world.

Reminder

NSPCC Number Day 2022 returns on Friday 4th February!

At Carcroft, we are really excited to take part in this year’s NSPCC Rocks Number Day. NSPCC Number day aims to raise money  to help children across the UK, while having fun with Maths.

This term we have launched Times Tables Rockstars in KS1 and KS2.

As part of the NSPCC Number Day,  we would like the children to dress up as their favourite rock star on Friday 4th February. During the day, we will be holding competitions between our crews/year groups. The children will even have the opportunity to challenge their crew and deputy crew leaders.

Donations to support the NSPCC will be greatly received.

We are architects!

Crew nursery have been learning to plan and design buildings this week! They have designed their own buildings and thought carefully about how they could make them interesting. Some children added slides and flag poles while others included a swimming pool! The children thought about the shape of the windows on their buildings, with some opting to have circular windows like those that are seen on pirate ships!

EYFS Trip to Austerfield Study Centre.

The children within crew FE had an absolute brilliant day yesterday on their first school trip. After looking closely at the three little pigs during their expedition learning the staff at the centre devised several activities to further embed this knowledge and encourage the children to build on their knowledge to answer the guiding question “in a world of possibilities what would you make?”

The children had the chance to build their own houses in a real forrest using the same materials as the three little pigs. They worked in mini crews to create their structures and afterwards tested them against the blowing strength of the big bad wolf.

After lunch the children went on a trail to find jigsaw pieces which led to a story den. They were able to use a map and their orienteering skills to locate the different areas where the pieces were hidden. By listening to each other they were bale to work smart and together found pieces which made 4 jigsaws all linking to traditional story tales.

The children were a real create to Carcroft school and a pleasure to have on a school visit.

We are performers!

Crew Nursery have been retelling the story of ‘The Three Little Pigs’ in their very own puppet theatre! They used loud, clear voices to ensure that their audience could hear them and they remembered the key phrases from the story well.

‘Little pig, little pig, let me come in…..’
