We’ve had a big focus on our 6 timetables this week. Chanting them forwards and backwards and ensuring we’re saying the whole number sentence.
Multiplying by 10
Arithmetic today consisted of revisiting multiplying by 10 as this is something we’ve picked up in the arithmetic test as needing bit more practice. It was great seeing some children using the place value grid to support them.

We are geographers 🌍

During our expedition lesson, we had to piece together an image which was the map of the world. However, this map had new information that we hadn’t seen before. We learned that the Earth is divided into 7 divisions which are:
North Pole (Arctic Circle)
Northern Hemisphere
Tropic of Cancer
Equator
Tropics of Capricorn
Southern Hemisphere
South Pole (Antarctic Circle)
We then split into groups to do some research on one of the divisions before feeding back to the rest of the crew.
Related Facts
In maths, we have been learning about related multiplication and division facts. If we know 1 set of information then we can work out others such as 4×5=20, 4×50=200, 4×500=2000

🦔 Hedgehog to the rescue 🐦

Break time fun! 👟😀
We had lots of fun trying out the new skipping rope Miss Marsh ordered for us. Lots of children queued up to have a go and show off their skipping skills. We can’t wait to get it back out tomorrow! Thank you Miss Marsh!😃💕

Super Scotties session 👟💨🏃
This morning, we had lots of fun whilst working on our communication and listening skills. We were able to play lots of different games where we worked as a team to achieve a common goal. We can’t wait for next weeks session ☺️

3D Shape Making🍬
Today, in Magic Maths, we made some 3D shapes using marshmallows and cocktail sticks. We talked about what 2D shapes we could see that the 3D shape is made from.

100% Attendance Rewards

Well done to Henry, Presley, George and Alissa on 100% attendance for Autumn 2. I wonder if we ca. have more children for spring 1?
Animals and their Habitats 🐞🦔🐟
We began our lesson today by recapping habitats and then played a silent matching game to match the animals to their natural habitats. We then used our silent signals for agree and disagree to show our answers. This generated some fantastic discussions about how some animals had more than one habitat which we used later in the lesson.

We then used a Venn diagram to compare the different animals who lived in an urban habitat and a woodland habitat and discussed those such as foxes and hedgehogs which could live in both.

To finish our lesson and really challenge ourselves we tried to answer the question “Why wouldn’t you find a polar bear in the forest?”. Again this generated some good discussions and we used our previous knowledge of the basic needs to animals to help come up with a collaborative answer.

Great work everyone!
