Case study reflection in MI
AB repeating patterns – colours
We have been looking at repeating patterns and what the word ‘repeating’ means. We talked about how it is the same thing again, and again, and again. We started by chanting each of the colours in the pattern, which helped us to continue the pattern – even without the pictures on the board to help us! We then had to work together to see if we could find out what colour would come next in the pattern.
To demonstrate our learning, we then had an individual pattern that we then had to complete with the correct picture. We were really kind to our friends and if we noticed that they had made a mistake we helped them to correct it.
Searching for numeral 2
In Crew McGlone, we looked at how the numeral 2 may look a little different when we see it out and about in the world. It may be a different colour, be written in a different font, be bigger or smaller… but it still represents 2!
Once we had talked about this, we went on a numeral hunt around the classroom. We had to work together as a crew to find as many different numeral 2s as possible. We were successful!
P.E in Crew Marsh
Today the children were learning to balance when jumping from 2 feet to 2 feet or 2 feet to 1 foot and then they smashed jumping from 2 feet, half a turn and then land on 2 feet .
KS1 Basketball Tournament
Last week 10 children from KS1 represented Carcroft at a basketball tournament at XP.
Archie even won a special medal.

Buddy Reading – Y2
The children in Year 2 have loved reading to some of the children in Crew Wilkinson. They are working hard to improve their fluency by reading each day. Keep up the great work everyone!
Filming for our final product
Today in KS1 we filmed and recorded our song and dance that will form part of our final product.
Geoff from XP came in with all his recording equipment and he is now going to start putting the video together for us. We are very excited to share it will you later in the term!
Scotty’s Heroes
Crew Hamill had so much fun going out into our forest area to complete our next Scotty’s session. This session focused on creating a shelter that we would be able to protect ourselves from the elements in! We worked in mini crews to use the equipment given to create a space that we could hide from the rain. We then looked at what we could put inside our shelter to make it more comfortable! Well done to Kira and Taylor who earned Scotty’s Heroes this week due to their stewardship for packing away the equipment another crew had left behind!
Litter Picking
Crew Hamill have been out in the school playground to show our stewardship and we’ve worked hard to pick up some of the litter that has been floating around!
RSHE Crew
Last week, Crew Hamill were focusing on how we can recognise and talk about our emotions. As part of this lesson, we discussed facial expressions and how these helped us to decide how someone might be feeling. As a crew activity, we decided to take part in a random act of kindness that we could use to spread a little happiness around school to hopefully help others feel more positive emotions. For this, we created some bookmarks which we have placed in the school library for people to take and use when they are reading for pleasure. We hope that these will bring a smile to some people’s faces!
