Fantastic First aiders in Crew Mcloughlin🚑

To help with our expedition learning ‘How can a healthy lifestyle impact our body and mind?‘ we have participated in mini first aid training today! 🤩 What an amazing skill to have!

We took part in some basic first aid training today. We practised skills such as putting an unresponsive casualty into the recovery position; how to assess a casualty using DR ABC; and even how to safely perform abdominal thrusts (or the Heimlich manoeuvre) to dislodge something blocking the airway.

First Steps into First Aid – 23/05/22

As part of our expedition ‘How can a healthy lifestyle impact our body and mind?‘ we took part in some basic first aid training today. We practised skills such as putting an unresponsive casualty into the recovery position; how to assess a casualty using DR ABC; and even how to safely perform abdominal thrusts (or the Heimlich manoeuvre) to dislodge something blocking the airway. The bit that surprised us all though was how tiring (and hard) chest compressions were, especially when doing them for a minute!

Super Scooting!

Over the past week, we’ve been practicing our super scooting skills! After having Chris come to visit us and teach us some new tricks, we’ve really enjoyed being able to practice these skills at break and lunch times – look at those smiles 😁

Grand Opening!

Thank you to all of our families for joining our grand opening of our brand new outdoor area. The children absolutely LOVE it! We are looking forward to taking our learning outside and enjoying the lovely summer weather.

Crew MI 20th May

What a great week it has been… Crew MI have worked extremely hard this week and have done some new and exciting things.

This week we broke a world record by joining in with a Timestable Rockstars challenge. We joined schools from across the country in a dance warm and timestable challenge. Check out these moves…

In science this week we have been very busy learning about the circulatory system. We even got to actually dissect a heart. It was fascinating to actually see in real life all that we had learnt about the heart and be able to identify the different parts. We then acted out the journey our blood takes around the body.

Our HOWLs have also really improved this week which we are all really proud of. Have a great weekend everyone 🙂

Puppet Show Fun in EYFS

The children in EYFS had a special visitor recently! They were very lucky to be able to attend a real Punch and Judy puppet show from Mr Dan. His puppet character friends were so funny, they made us laugh so much! We used what we had learned in the classroom in our small world area where we created our own puppets and puppet shows, building on our story telling and speaking and listening skills.
