Stewardship in KS1

As a School we have noticed that there is a lot of litter on our school site, this is not being kind to our environment and we believe something needs to be done about it!

KS1 went out with Titch to help make our site look beautiful and pick the litter up in outdoor crew sessions.

Fireworks in Nursery!

The children this morning used their fine motor skills to create fire works in the tough tray. We spoke about all the different sounds the children are going to hear on Bonfire night. The children loved making lots of firework noises and we pretended we were the different fireworks by shouting loud bangs for rockets and being crackling little Roman candles. They are all very excited for Saturday!

LKS2 PE! ⚽️

LKS2 have started their new PE unit: Dodgeball. We learnt the different rules and how we need to work together as a team. There was some excellent teamwork, along with healthy competition, showing a real sense of crew. Well done!

LKS2 also had a mini-football tournament to finish off their unit of football. The ball control, dribbling and skills were fantastic. Even better, there was so much communication to be heard and smiles as they enjoyed playing their game of football.

LKS2 Historians! 🕵️‍♂️🕵️

LKS2 have been learning about the roles of men and women during World War 2. This week, we have researched the different roles men had. The children learnt that men did many jobs; such as: working in industry, down the mines, for the police force, as a fire officer, as an ARP Warden and many many more. The children presented their information by making posters. They were so eager to show off all their new learning.

Sharing our beautiful work

We spent time looking through our expedition books and shared our beautiful work with the rest of our crew. It was lovely to see you all so proud of the work you have been producing. Well done CrewRobson!

Exploring our new text in reading

MI started to explore the front cover and blurb of our new text. We explored the layout thinking about what the text may be about. We then worked collaboratively in a vocabulary challenge where we matched words from the front cover to definitions. We then linked this back to our guiding question and expedition. We then made predictions based on the front cover thinking about what we may read about, the different sections in the book and linking our ideas to books with similar themes.

Litter Picking Outdoors!

Hi everyone!

Just to let you know, on Thursday, we will be completing some litter picking outside and it will be on the field. We are suggesting that the children bring a change of footwear (wellies or trainers) so that their usual school shoes don’t get mucky, if it is damp. We’re doing this to help make our school look beautiful and to be kind to the environment.

We’ve had a really positive start to this week too, so we’re looking forward to building on that as this week and the next few weeks progress!

Name recognition in Crew Nursery.

The children have been working super hard today in Crew Nursery. They have practiced finding their first name from a selection and then had a go at writing their initial sound using shaving foam. They have loved the experience. We found that it was easier to write using our finger and the shaving foam felt lovely on our hands. Well done everyone. You have really tried hard to get smart today.
