A high number of student iPads are being returned to the Edutech workshop with damaged screens. Our insurers are now implementing a £50 excess to any claims for broken screens where a screen protector is not applied to the device.
Parents will be liable to pay this excess if screen protectors are not applied.
All iPads were issued with a screen protector when you received them, If for any reason you do not have a screen protector please inform the school admin team.
Screen protectors and devices form part of our crew equipment check process so this is the responsibility of students and parents to ensure devices are appropriately protected.
Next week we will be having an upgrade to our outdoor play area. YIPEE! This does mean that the playground will be closed to parents and children for approximately 12 school days. Therefore we have some changes to dropping off and picking up your children.
From Tuesday morning please can you make your way down the driveway (towards Little Oaks Nursery). Your child will come into school through the door next to the kitchen. There will be staff around on Tuesday to support you if you are unsure where to go.
We’ve also made some tweaks to pick up times to prevent any congestion. Pick up times from Tuesday 3rd May will be as follows until the work is complete:
Nursery – 2.45pm
Crew Evans – 2.50pm
Crew Ferguson – 3.00pm
Thank you for your understanding and we can’t wait to share the final result with you once the work is complete.
We are so proud of our children in Y5 and Y6 for producing this beautiful work answering the guiding question, ‘Why should we help our planet survive?’
We have raised over £70 to send to a environmental charity this week – Amazing work!
As part of our Summer Term expedition, we would like to take the opportunity to take our KS1 children to the Beamish Museum in Durham. The visit will be a full day where the children will have the opportunity to see what school was like if they were five or six years old in the past. Children will also have the opportunity to discover the games of the playground and take part in an infant lesson in the kindergarten of a Victorian school. Beamish also presents a unique insight into the living and working experiences of life in the Great North offering unrivalled learning opportunities.
Please ensure that children are wearing school uniforms and sensible shoes. Children will also need to bring a water bottle.
The children will be provided with a packed lunch from school.
The trip is on Wednesday 15th June 2022. The coach will collect us from school at 8:00am and it will return at approximately 5:00pm depending on the traffic.
Children will need to be at school by 7:45am
Please note: All monies and consents need to be completed and paid via Parentpay no later than Wednesday 8th June 2022.
The cost of the trip is £20.00. We are asking parents to pay £10.00 per child and the school will subsidise the remainder of the cost. Unfortunately, if we don’t receive enough money the trip will not go ahead.
We are looking forward to an exciting day. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any queries.
Unfortunately due to low numbers of children participating in Thursday cheerleading club we have decided to cancel the activity. After school club will still go ahead on Thursdays with pupils participating film club.
Student Led Conferences You should have received an email regarding Student Led Conferences taking place next week. Please follow the link for your child’s Crew leader in order to book a time slot. As your child will be leading the conference it is vital that they attend.
Trip As you will be aware, we will be going on our trip to Cleethorpes on Wednesday 4th May (next week). Thank you for your contributions to ensure that the trip can go ahead. We are really looking forward to taking the children and experiencing the seaside to enhance our expedition “What happens where the sea meets the shore?”.
School lunches will be provided and children will not need any spending money to take with them. School will provide an ice cream for children whilst there.
Children will need:
to be in school uniform
Suitable sun protection such as a sun hat and sun cream (to be applied at home)
A raincoat
Summer Weather As we move into the warmer weather, please be conscious of sending your child to school with suitable sun protection. Please ensure your child has a water bottle in school labelled with their name that they can access through the day. Cups are not provided in class due to the risk of spreading germs.
Thursdays PE will now take place on Thursdays for Crew FE. Please send your child to school in suitable clothing and footwear such as jogging bottoms/shorts and comfortable shoes. Homework is also welcomed into school on Thursdays so it can be shared with the rest of the Crew.
Any questions, please ask your child’s Crew Leader.
As we informed you last week, this term we will be holding Student Led Conferences – our new version of Parents Evening. Children have been working really hard to prepare in school and we can’t wait for them to share their hard work with you.
We are pleased to say that the Google Forms are now open for you to book an appointment for you and your child. In order to complete your booking, please click on the name of your child’s crew below and complete the form which opens up:
A few learning points from last time, in order to make things run smoother:
Please remember to ask your child which Crew they are in, if you are not sure, as you need this information when booking.
You only need to book for one slot. If you make a mistake, let us know and don’t book another slot as this will take a slot away from another child/parent.
You should receive an email of your form responses once you have submitted. This may go into your spam folder. Just in case, please make a note of the time you have booked so you don’t forget.
We really are hoping to get every parent in attendance at our first round of SLC’s as the children really are trying so hard in order to perfect ‘their’ SLC and can’t wait to meet with you to show you their fabulous learning.
We look forward to welcoming you all into school during the next couple of weeks.
Last week, Crew Nursery were given a letter and a treasure map from a child, Tom, who attended Carcroft School a long time ago! They followed the map to the forest school and found a time capsule! In the time capsule, Tom had put things inside to remind him of his family holiday to Cleethorpes. Crew Nursery loved exploring the objects and looking at Tom’s photographs! They are excited to learn about Tom and what seasides were like in the past!
I am just writing to let parents and carers know that our children are currently busy planning and rehearsing for their very first Student Led Conference.
You might be asking yourself, ‘what is a Student Led Conference (SLC) though?’
An SLC is an opportunity for your child to share with you ‘what they are proud of’ and an opportunity for them to make ‘pledges’ in order to get better at anything they may feel less confident in as we head into the last part of the year. This will be different for every child.
Your child will do all of the talking during their SLC and the Teacher will only step in if they need some help. This is the main difference to the traditional Parents Evening model, your child will be doing nearly all of the talking and showing you pieces of work in which they are proud of. Then, before Parents and Children head home for the evening, everyone will write down a pledge, in order to support the child to make even more progress in the Summer Term. All of this will be led by your child.
Green Top and Plover have already experienced an SLC and have shared that it’s such a lovely opportunity to hear the children talking about their HoWLs and Academic Progress and Parents love to see their child leading a meeting such as this, as it’s such a huge experience. I can’t wait to see them in action!
Our SLCs are going to take place during the week commencing Monday 2nd May 2022.
We are currently just making a tweak to the electronic booking form and should be able to share this on Monday next week.
SLCs will be taking place on the following days and between the following times. So that all children can attend their SLC, we have finished them earlier than we would normally, with 4.50 being our last appointment time. However, if you require a later slot, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s Class Teacher and they will be sure to accommodate you with this request.

We will share the booking link on Monday next week (hopefully), whereby you will be able to select a time that works for both you and your child. This will be done through a Google Form, like we did in the Autumn.
A few learning points from last time, in order to make things run smoother:
-Please remember to ask your child which Crew they are in, if you are not sure, as you need this information when booking
-You only need to book for one slot
