In crew today, we created animals out of leaves, can you guess which animals we made?

Today we looked at the different parts of the human body: head, shoulders, knees and toes.
We also looked at the 5 senses. Ask us if we can remember all 5?

We have had such a wonderful first few weeks back at school and the children’s enthusiasm for learning is wonderful to see especially when we have been learning about circuits. The children in LKS2 have enjoyed investigating how circuits work and what happens in additional equipment is added. They particularly enjoyed adding a switch and buzzer to their circuits. The children have demonstrated fantastic HOWLs by listening to each other carefully when creating their own circuits.
What a wonderful we have had in LKS2. It has been wonderful to listen to the children reflect on their achievements in the Autumn Term and celebrate their learning with their family. It was lovely to see how much knowledge they had remembered about the Second World War. Each and every child who attended their SLCs did such an amazing job and we are exceptionally proud of them all. We cannot wait to see what happens during our Spring Term.
Thank you to all those who attended, we hope you enjoyed them as much as we did.
Keep up the great work LKS2!
During our hook week, the children in LKS2 enjoyed learning about what plants needs to survive and of course the different parts of a flowering plant. They even planted their very own seed, we cannot wait to watch them grow.
We also learned about sustainability and shared the different ways that we can be more sustainable at school and at home. The children created some eye catching posters to remind others as well as making their own pledge. It was wonderful to see the children share their praises and notices for each other’s posters. The children were eager to share their ideas and they could explain how some small changes can make a big difference.
Wow, wow, wow!!!! What a fantastic afternoon we had in MI consolidating some of the arithmetic skills we needed more practice on. Yesterday we unpicked our test paper, looking at different examples together and we also used each other as effective coaches. Today we applied what we had practised yesterday and took part in a carousel of activities to really challenge our arithmetic skills. We rotated round a variety of fraction stations, decimal stations and also looked at different written methods. We were given a partner who we had to support throughout the afternoon and what a fantastic job we all did. Some amazing learning and such wonderful positive attitudes were shown throughout. I am incredibly proud of the learning that took place!

Well done to everyone in MI who has now delivered their Student Led Conference. Myself and Mrs Ibbotson are so incredibly proud of each and every one of you. Your hard work and dedication really did pay off and we both loved listening to you all reflecting on your achievements and challenging yourself further. You should all be super proud of yourselves.
We are very excited in Crew Shields as we’ve started reading a new text linked to our expedition. After reading chapter 1, the crew were asked to start collating information about the characters. This helped the crew build on their fact and retrieval skills as well as inference and summary. Fantastic to see some great crew collaboration.

During our science lesson, the children learned that we are able to see because light reflects off non luminous objects and this is then sent to our eyes. When light reflects off an object, it bounces off at the exact same angle. To further develop learning, the crew made periscopes. They were able to explain how light enters the top wndow and hits the first mirror, this light is then reflected at a 45 degree angle down the periscope to the second mirror. The light bounces off this mirror into the eye.
