Swimming Super Stars (7/6/21) 🏊‍♂️

Today was sadly our last swimming session. We are absolutely gutted that it is ending, because we have loved it so much. This was our best session yet, as it was a fun day. We got to do synchronised swimming, had a competitive water polo match and then got to have the final part of the session playing with the equipment, racing each other and doing all kinds of other enjoyable activities.

The swimming super stars are everyone from Crew G and Crew Mc. You have really blown us away this year with swimming and have taken everything in your stride. Whether you could not swim or was confident to begin with, their has been so much progress made.

The swimming coaches were really blown away by your commitment and attitude, which goes to show that you can achieve whatever you put your mind to.

This has certainly been one of mine and Mrs Gilliland’s favourite sessions to take part in all year and we’re equally as sad that we won’t be going next week. I think a lot will even want to go swimming throughout the summer with their friends or pick up swimming lessons from where they left off!

Each and everyone of you have all made us feel lots of pride at some point during the time we have been going to swimming baths, so I want to say a massive well done!

Mr Gerrard and Mrs Gilliland 😆

A message from the Trust

iPad Parent Contribution Scheme

At XP Trust:

  • We support and challenge students to be leaders of their own learning
  • We pull down the barriers to learning, ensuring social equity
  • We encourage creativity; respectful, individual expression

Our approach to technology mirrors this, and therefore, from September 2021:

  • At primary schools in Years 3-6, we are launching our iPad parent contribution scheme to enable your child to access the best technology in their classroom and at home.
  • In school years below this, iPads will be made available to your children.

This is a contribution scheme and purely optional. Your Crew leader will speak to you directly about the scheme.

Announcement

Dear Parents and Carers,

As you are all aware Miss Laing will be taking maternity leave from her role as Headteacher at Carcroft School. In her absence I will become the Acting Heateacher for the School, combining the role with my role as Executive Principal for the XP Trust.

For those of you who don’t know me, let me introduce myself. I am Neil Butler and this will be my fourth Headship. I have been a Head for over 15 years, leading schools in Hessle, Thorne and Intake. My teaching career also began at Askern Spa Junior School. As some may know my role within the XP Trust is to lead all the Headteachers and Principles in their roles in their schools.

Next year will be an exciting one; finally officially joining the Trust and developing further the great work on Crew, Expedition and Beautiful Work. I have been really impressed this year with the improvement in the children’s behaviours and attitudes to learning. The teachers have done a great job developing the habits of work and learning. Children really do work hard, get smart and are kind.

Next year we hope to welcome you back into school, to see your children’s great work and share their learning journeys. We have all been really frustrated with the government’s covid restrictions, although we totally understand why and support the measures, schools aren’t the same without positive parental interactions.

I will write again nearer the end of term to share our plans for the new academic year.

I hope your children enjoy the activities that the staff have planned for the children over the coming month.

Thanks for your continued support

Neil Butler
