LKS2 PE! ⚽️

LKS2 have started their new PE unit: Dodgeball. We learnt the different rules and how we need to work together as a team. There was some excellent teamwork, along with healthy competition, showing a real sense of crew. Well done!

LKS2 also had a mini-football tournament to finish off their unit of football. The ball control, dribbling and skills were fantastic. Even better, there was so much communication to be heard and smiles as they enjoyed playing their game of football.

LKS2 Historians! 🕵️‍♂️🕵️

LKS2 have been learning about the roles of men and women during World War 2. This week, we have researched the different roles men had. The children learnt that men did many jobs; such as: working in industry, down the mines, for the police force, as a fire officer, as an ARP Warden and many many more. The children presented their information by making posters. They were so eager to show off all their new learning.

Non Uniform Day

I know we have only just finished with Halloween, and some people may not be ready for this just yet…. but Christmas preparations have now begun here at Carcroft School! Christmas will soon be upon us and with that in mind we need to begin our Christmas Fayre prep ASAP. So, this Friday 4th November, children are invited into school in non-uniform but in return, we are asking for donations for our tombola stall and Carcroft famous bottle stall ie: toiletries, shampoo, bubble bath, bottles of water, bottles of juice etc

We can’t wait to get our Christmas Fayre back up and running as we know how much our children and families love it. Thank you in advance for anything you can donate, we really do appreciate your support.

Exploring our new text in reading

MI started to explore the front cover and blurb of our new text. We explored the layout thinking about what the text may be about. We then worked collaboratively in a vocabulary challenge where we matched words from the front cover to definitions. We then linked this back to our guiding question and expedition. We then made predictions based on the front cover thinking about what we may read about, the different sections in the book and linking our ideas to books with similar themes.

Name recognition in Crew Nursery.

The children have been working super hard today in Crew Nursery. They have practiced finding their first name from a selection and then had a go at writing their initial sound using shaving foam. They have loved the experience. We found that it was easier to write using our finger and the shaving foam felt lovely on our hands. Well done everyone. You have really tried hard to get smart today.

Halloween Fun! 🎃

This afternoon we discovered a pumpkin in our tuff tray! We asked Miss Welburn to cut a hole in the top so that we could explore what was on the inside…we found lots of slimy, gloopy, gooey pulp to squish between our hands! We also discovered lots of pumpkin seeds inside which we saved to see if new pumpkins will grow from when we plant them outside!

Perfecting our porridge!

This week in Crew Welburn, we are focussing on the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. We read in the story that the bears were making porridge for their breakfast, and wondered what this tasted like. We got to work straight away making Mummy Bear’s sweet porridge, Daddy Bear’s plain porridge, and Baby Bear’s porridge that was just right. We had a vote at the end and we decided that most of us preferred Mummy Bear’s sweet porridge! 🥣🐻
