Crew Shields – 30/9/20

In crew this morning, the children made pledges about kindness. They discussed acts of kindness they could do to support their crew and show kindness to others. All the children made pledges and we are looking forward to seeing these develop over the coming weeks.

Today’s HoWL average is: 3.0

Our Weekly HoWL target is: 3.0

How can we develop this tomorrow?

Tomorrow, Crew Shields need to continue working on their kindness to others and ensure they are sharing.

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Our Work Hard hero today is Holly!

Holly has been working hard on her independence. This has really shown in her writing as she has been writing independently and not relying on an adult for support.

Crew Welburn 30.9.2020

Wednesday ✔

What a lovey day we have had in Crew Welburn today. I have seen such a change in the way the children have come together as a crew. They have really worked hard at working with a partner to check that they are listening, following instructions and putting their hands up.

Highlights from today:

Writing:

Today we finished our recount from our walk to Coffee Corner. The children were looking through the feelings lens and came up with some really good vocabulary. They even listened to Grandma Fantastic’s new word – relieved – and tried to use this in their work!

Our HOWL Heroes:

Miss Wroe chose our HOWL Heroes today as she has worked with the children. She chose:

Work Hard: Scarlett had to be my work hard HOWL hero today after trying so hard in her writing to sound out words using her Fred fingers!

Get Smart: Charlie did a fantastic job today when speaking to Mrs Fox about our learning. He showed just how much he has learnt over the past few weeks in our expedition and he made me feel ever so proud 😊

Be Kind:  Jamie has tried really hard today to be kind to the adults by putting his hand up to contribute his ideas. This is much kinder than shouting over the adults and other children Jamie, thank you.

HOWL average: 3.1. Keep it up Crew Welburn 🙌🙌

Crew Fox 30.9.20

Today, we could’ve given anyone HOWL hero… but the lucky 3 were:

Work hard: Aiden 🦸‍♂️

Get smart: Chloe 🦸‍♀️

Be kind: Shay 🦸‍♂️

🤩 We are super proud to say that our HOWL average today is 3.3! We’ve worked super hard to achieve this and literally gave out the loudest cheer ever 🤩

Well done Crew Fox 🦊

Crew Godley Daily Blog 29.09.2020

What a busy day we have had in Crew Godley today with so much learning and fun going on 😊

Highlights from today:

RWI (Read, Write, Inc)

I was absolutely blown away by the progress the children are making in their RWI sessions. Somany children had remembered most of their sounds and we had lots of children who are becoming confident when blending sounds together to make words. Fred, our RWI Frog is only able to speak in sounds, not whole words. We call this Fred Talk. For example, Fred would say ‘m-a –t’ we would say ‘mat’. Fred talk helps children read unfamiliar words by pronouncing each sound in the word one at a time. … The following video is an example of blending sounds with Fred.

We are exploring the text, Guess How Much I Love You by Sam McBratney

We discussed what makes us special and why our friends and family love us, we also thought about how we can show our family and friends that we love them. Sydney shared that her Mummy and Daddy love her because they are always giving her kisses and cuddles ❤ she drew Mummy a picture to show her that she loved her.

Here is Miss Ferguson sharing the story.

Our HOWL Heroes:

Work Hard:

Shelby

SJ

Lydia

These children worked extremely hard in RWI and even asked if they could do some more phonics in the afternoon 😊 Well done, keep up the great work, your positive attitude was fantastic!

Crew Flaherty 29.9.20

A terrific Tuesday in Crew Flaherty today.

Highlights of the day:

Our day started with a fabulous maths lesson comparing objects and numbers up to 100 using the greater than and less than symbols. You all did a great job and impressed me with how quickly you can partition 2 digit numbers to be able to order them.

In art, our Crew worked carefully and sensibly to create a colour wheel using primary and secondary colours. We were super impressed with their concentration skills and their perseverance to mix the colours accurately.

In English, all the children enjoyed part 1 of our experience lessons based on our class text ‘The Wonder’ by Faye Hanson. It was lovely to hear the children generate vocabulary ready for our story writing next week as well as working collaboratively. You were superstars sharing your thoughts and ideas

Part 2 to follow tomorrow…

Crew Welburn Daily Blog 29.9.2020

Tuesday ✔

A busy day in Crew Welburn today with so much learning going on!

Highlights from today:

Transitions:

I had the opportunity to take a step back today and observe Crew Welburn for a little bit and I was amazed at how sensibly they move around the classroom. This is such a big improvement since week 1 and I was really proud of all of them for being sensible as they moved from one part of the class to another.

Provision:

The children have accessed indoor provision today and they have worked so hard at their maths skills to find 1 more and 1 less, their writing skills to think of sentences from the story ‘We’re going on a bear hunt’, and to practice their fine motor skills in the Finger Gym. Well done Crew Welburn!

Our HOWL Heroes:

Miss Wroe chose our HOWL Heroes today as she has worked with the children. She chose:

Work Hard: Kairen

Get Smart: Tiarna

Be Kind:  Kyden

HOWL average: 3.2. That’s more like it Crew Welburn 🙌🙌

Crew Elmer Daily Blog 29.09.20

What a Tremendous Tuesday! 🤩

Star moment of the day:

Today I was really impressed with the children’s knowledge of ‘more than’, ‘less than’ and ‘equal to’ in Maths this morning. The children were able to use their previous knowledge and apply this to 4-digit numbers represented in different ways! This was fantastic to see and meant that many children were able to move on to reasoning and problem solving, resulting in them achieving ‘green standard’. Excellent work my set of mathematicians in Crew Elmer! Well done! 👏

Today’s HoWL average is: 3.1

This is our best score for a few days so well done Crew Elmer! 👍 I think that having Leo back and moving some of your table places has enabled us to be much kinder to each other today. I really hope that we can keep this up! 🤞

This week’s HoWL target is: 2.9

How can we improve this tomorrow?

Tomorrow Crew Elmer need to make sure that we are continuing to ‘be kind’ at all times and our focused on our learning, especially in the afternoon!

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Crew Elmer nominated Sienna for being our class ‘get smart’ hero 🥇. Sienna has been working really hard on listening at all times in class and this has enabled her to understand the task fully and achieve ‘green standard’ in all of her lessons today! She has also produced some beautiful work that both her and the whole of Crew Elmer are very proud of! Excellent work Sienna! Well done! 👏

Crew Fox blog 29.9.20

Work Hard: Gabby 🦸‍♀️

Todays HOWL average is 2.9 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 We are edging closer to a secure 3.0 🥳

Crew Nicholson Daily Blog 29.09.20

Another day of fantastic learning and fun! We LOVE to read and today, the children enjoyed sharing some stories outside in the sunshine! ☀️ They got comfy with a cushion in a crate and looked at the pictures together, talking about the features of a book such as the blurb and the title. 📚

Some groups of children went out to explore the Forest School. We did an Autumn walk in the forest and collected lots of conkers (or ponkers as the children kept calling them 🤣) crisp leaves 🍁  and twigs from different trees. There was lots of excellent discussion about Autumn and the differences in seasons. The children were able to tell me about the leaves on the ground and used adjectives such as ‘crisp’ ‘crunchy’ and ‘dry’. We then used our Autumn objects to make some faces 🙂

HOWL Hero

Today we have had discussions about how we need to stay on yellow for secure and if we need reminders about listening or showing the right attitude to learning, we would then be on orange. We will continue to work on this to ensure we can then score ourselves on our work and learning.

Working Hard – Charlie-Jade

Charlie-Jade has had an excellent attitude towards her learning today and has achieved a personal goal for her which is fantastic! Keep up the great work! 🌟

Crew Mcloughlin blog 29/09/20

Todays highlights

This morning we finished off our work on roman numerals up to 1000. Crew Mcloughlin have blown me away with our knowledge of roman numerals and most applied this with reasoning and even problem solving skills. We also are getting Write Stuff superstars within our writing lessons and really picking up the routine well. Some children were going above and beyond trying to use onomatopoeia for effect. I am very impressed and I know the children were impressed with their own writing too. We even had a few confident children that said they think that their work will make it onto the Crew Mcloughlin sentence stackers display. I love your enthusiasm and we shall see if you have got there tomorrow!

This afternoon we had our geography lesson. We compared maps of continents with a map of Carcroft and had a detailed discussion around the differences and similarities. The children came up with some lovely ideas for the working wall which we will use and refer to next lesson.

HoWL Heroes 🦸‍♀️🦸‍♂️

Lila- Work Hard- I could award Lila our Work Hard Hero everyday of the week! You are a superstar who is always participating in lessons, putting 100% into everything you do and produce beautiful work by doing so. Well done!

Daniel- Be Kind- Daniel has achieved his target of being kind today and has made us smile. He has helped make the classroom tidy and been kind helping on his table to do this. Keep it up Daniel!

HoWL average= 3.0 We were very happy with this score! Most children are meeting expectations and achieving excellence. So proud!

Our HoWL target this week is to get 3 or above everyday
