Crew Godley Daily Blog: 30.09.20

Good evening everyone,

We have had another fantastic learning day down in the foundation unit today. The children are really embracing the “crew” ethos and are developing some lovely friendships. 😁

We have been looking very closely at why each of us are special. We have discussed what makes us unique and how we differ from one another, as well as talking about how we can use these differences to support one another in the classroom. Shania was excited to share she was special because she could balance really well on the trim trail. We spoke about how she could support her “crew” by modeling this great skill to them whilst outside.

We then used these discussions to complete self portraits for our classroom crew display. 🎨The children were really excited to see their learning on the classroom wall for any visitors to see. 👩👦

Wednesday ✅ This morning in crew time we practiced our speaking and listening skills, talking about something we are good at. After establishing we are all good at playing with toys and some scaffolding, we thought deeper about things we are good at that we might not realise. The children articulated some lovely answers such as riding a bike, growing vegetables and counting. We are really working hard at listening to our crew when we are talking, it is really tricky to do sometimes as we are all desperate to share our ideas! 🙊

Today we received a rather unusual delivery for our snack – Raddishes! After some encouragement, the children pretended to be Peter Rabbit and gave them a try! I was so proud of the children for trying them, see below for some funny faces 🥴🥴 It is always good to try new things, as the saying goes ‘how do you know you don’t like something if you don’t try?’

Crew Marsh: 30/09/20

Hi all,

Star moment of the day:

Crew is at the heart of everything we do, in PE it was great to see the children working together as a crew and being able to start to learn that winning isn’t everything and it is the taking part and fun that counts.

Today’s HoWL average is: 3.0

Weekly HoWl target: 3.0

How can we improve this tomorrow?

By making sure as a crew we are working hard and listening to instructions.

Today’s HoWL Hero:

This week we are concentrating on being kind.

Our being kind hero today is: Jake

Jake is always kind to his peers and to adults in the classroom, he makes sure that he is always listening and is a real credit to Crew Marsh.

Well done Jake!

Crew Boswell – 30.09.20

Good evening,

Star moment of the day:

Our star moment today was the teamwork on show during our PE session; a recurring theme it seems!  Couple with the reflection on their own performance, it was a session to be proud of for all.

Today’s HoWL average is: 3.0

Our weekly HoWL target is: 3.0

I wonder if…

I wonder if everyone remembers to wear something colourful tomorrow for our party and we can continue to show everyone what an amazing crew we are!

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Work Hard – Ryan!  Ryan has had an amazing day today.  He continues to show his positive attitude towards his learning and has built on this by refusing to give up when things are more challenging, instead facing each challenge with greater determination and focus.  Keep going, Ryan, we will all try to copy you on Friday!

Crew Wilson Daily Blog : 30/09/2020

What a wonderful Wednesday we’ve had in Crew Wilson.

We started off this morning continuing with our discussions around Being Kind, then some volunteers got to meet a special visitor and share what we have been learning – the children could articulate themselves very well, explaining in detail what we have done since we returned to school in September, but also why we were learning it and they have made their teachers very proud!

Highlights of the Day:

Maths: Using the Very Hungry Caterpillar to support 1:1 correspondence. The children couldn’t believe just how much the Caterpillar ate in one day! We are getting secure with representing numbers by objects and have definitely enjoyed exploring it a little more today.

PE: Today we played Cops and Robbers, where the children split into teams and had to strategise how they were going to ‘steal’ the other groups swag and get it back to their base – but there were several rules that made it a harder. It was great to see them working out the best methods, practising and adapting them. The girls communicated fantastically and managed to beat the boys 5 times in a row! Next week we will continue with this game and see if the boys manage to beat the girls, the battle lines have been drawn and it is ON!

Howl Heroes:

Work Hard: This Howl goes to Freddie, for taking part in all of our crew and learning sessions today. Freddie’s attitude to learning has become so positive since returning to school and it is great to see our Crew celebrating his successes and cheering him on – we are all so proud, keep it up Freddie!

Get Smart: This Howl goes to Keira-Leigh for her fantastic people management skills in PE – the girls owe their wins to Keira-Leigh’s quick-thinking and direct instruction, there were no weak links in this group as Keira-Leigh made sure everyone knew what their job was and how to do it. Fantastic work Keira-Leigh!

Be Kind: This Howl goes to Aleks, as he has formed some lovely relationships with his friends and is so considerate of other children’s needs. Aleks always helps others both on the playground and in the classroom, and it’s great to see him developing friendships within our lovely crew, keep it up Aleks 🙂

Our HoWL average for today was 3.1, which means that it stayed the same as yesterday, so are really pleased for that and are aiming for more tomorrow.

A wonderful Wednesday in Crew Flaherty today.

Highlights of the day:

Our morning started with a fantastic Cojo session where the children took turns to complete the task. The children worked extremely well in their Crew and it was great to see them communicating effectively to complete the task. In maths, we have seen some amazing work comparing numbers up to 100. Lots of children were able to access our reasoning task. What incredible mathematicians we have. In the afternoon, we have been practising our letter formation to improve our handwriting. All the children focused on their letter formation which was fantastic.

HOWLs

Our HOWL average for the day was 3.0. A great score but I wonder if we can improve it tomorrow.

HOWL heroes

Work Hard

Daisy – for having a positive attitude

Get Smart

Maria – for listening carefully in every lesson.

Be Kind

Chase- for being kind and helping adults tidy up the equipment in the classroom.

I wonder who will be our HOWL heroes tomorrow.

Crew Longley – 30.09.2020

Star moment of the day:

It has been a lovely day today with our first full house of crew members! My favourite momnet was the kindess pledges the children helped to create in Crew. I hope you enjoyed the homework kindness tasks the children were describing from their time at home yesterday.

Today’s HoWL average is: 2.9

Our Weekly HoWL target is: 2.7

How can we could develop this tomorrow?

Tomorrow, Crew Longley need to continue being kind to each other and holding each other to account.

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Our Be Kind hero today is Alkim!

We chose Alkim today becasue he was brave enought to stand up and be the first person from our crew to recieve ‘Phase Praise’ in assembly. Well done for being so brave!

Crew Kent Blog 30.9.20

Today, we could’ve given anyone HOWL hero… but the lucky 3 were:

Work hard: Kelby 👩

Get smart: Abigail 👩

Be kind: Milena 👩

🤩 We are super proud to say that our HOWL average today is 3.0! We’ve worked super hard to achieve this and we’re really now thinking about what each HOWL really means.

Well done Crew Kent 👍
