Crew Gerrard Blog (29/09/2020)

Hi everyone,

This morning we started by sharing how we were feeling during Crew circle and what our favourite TV show was. We worked really hard to get to grips with Roman Numerals and we did a great job of this. I know that Miss Laing was really impressed with Crew Gerrard’s determination throughout – well done!

Crew Gerrard, after spellings and break, then moved their learning onto writing. We worked at a really good pace to try and speed up our writing. Quality did not suffer and we are going to try our very best to make sure that they continue to keep improving. We then continued to develop our reading skills with our new style of learning, which we continue to develop our confidence with.

After having had our lunch, we then moved onto our expedition work. Before we started, the children were interested in finding out more information about the Golden Gate Bridge, in San Francisco. The children were really fascinated about it. During our expedition learning, we completed our analysis of what Carcroft has to offer. It’s really pleasing to see the children have lots of belief in their community and see that they want to help make it even better. The day ended with a phase Crew, where we showed our Crew’s work hard video and watched Crew McLoughlin’s brilliant video.

Our HoWL heroes for today are:

-Alicia for working hard. Your attitude of late has been brilliant and you’re really setting the example. You also helped me a great deal by scribing for me, so that your peers can be helped with the working walls. Well done!

-Tyler for getting smart. You have really tried to work independently and I was impressed by your growing confidence with Roman numerals. Keep it up!

-Belle for being kind. You really help make your Crew smile, but your listening skills and eagerness to help people was really pleasing to see. Your explanations for Roman Numerals were really impressive.

Our HoWL average today was 3.1.

Have a great evening and see you all tomorrow – remember, it is PE in the afternoon, so don’t forget your kits!

Mr G 😊

Afternoon everyone!

We have had a lovely day in Crew Thiede.

Highlight of the day

Today we enjoyed our PE lesson, we went on a scavenger hunt with Coach Cara. In our Write Stuff lesson we had an experience day, we wondered about lots of different things that are in our book, The Wonder. We tried juicy, sour oranges and imagined what clouds feel like!

This afternoon we have created some beautiful work during art by mixing paint. We painted colour wheels using primary and secondary colours.

Crew Flaherty 28.9.20

A marvellous Monday in Crew Flaherty today.

Highlights of the day:

Watching the children listening carefully to each during Crew this morning and showing each other support during lessons. The quiet, calm reminders you have given each other to meet the minimum expected standard has been lovely to see. You are being Crew.

Working hard in maths to compare numbers up to 100. You used the greater than and less than symbols confidently and you used the base 10 equipment sensibly to deepen your understanding. I am very impressed Crew Flaherty.

In book talk, we summarised our class text ‘The Wonder’ by Faye Hanson and you were able to confidently discuss how the boy might have felt when he had to show his teacher his art work.

HOWLs

HOWL average for the day is 3.8. Crew Flaherty you have made me proud today. What an incredible score.

I wonder if tomorrow, we can listen carefully to adults for the whole day especially in the afternoon.

I wonder who will be our HOWL heroes tomorrow

Crew Elmer Daily Blog 28.09.20

Magic Monday! 💥

Star moment of the day:

Today I was really blown away with the children’s ‘kindness’ in our Expedition lesson today. We were looking at Carcroft Primary School community and the people within it that help us. The children’s praises for the people that help them in different ways in school were lovely to hear. Such as ‘I praise and I am proud of Mr Hull because he keeps school a safe place, he locks all the doors and windows and fixes things when they are broken’, ‘I praise and I am proud of the cleaners because they keep everywhere in school clean and keep the cleaning stuff in the cupboard away from us as the liquids are harmful’, ‘I praise and I am proud of the people in the office as they give us lots of equipment when we need it, they sort the registers and they keep us safe by seeing who is coming into school’. We had lots of great sentences linked to safety. It was lovely to hear how much the children appreciate everyone in school and what they do for us all. Well done Crew Elmer! 👏

Today’s HoWL average is: 3.0

This is a great score for a Monday when we are all very tired and when we have some children missing from our class today. Well done Crew! 👍

This week’s HoWL target is: 2.9

How can we improve this tomorrow?

Tomorrow Crew Elmer need to make sure that we are ‘being kind’ at all times, especially in the afternoons when we are a little more tired and irritable.

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Crew Elmer nominated Frankie for being our class ‘kind’ hero 🥇. Frankie is always kind to others and today has shown just how patient, understanding and helpful she can be by supporting others with their learning. Several children nominated her today and I can see why! Not only are you kind but you make sure that we are all safe! Excellent work Frankie! Well done! 👏

Crew Longley – 28.09.2020

Star moment of the day:

Another great day in Crew Longley. Miss Holdsworth has chosen the star moment of the day. Miss Holdsworth was blown away by the power of Crew and how a member of our crew was honest enough to admit making a mistake and saying sorry. This really is a proud moment and shows how far we have come in Crew to build such honesty.

Today’s HoWL average is: 2.7

Our Weekly HoWL target is: 2.7

How can we improve this tomorrow?

Tomorrow, Crew Longley need to continue ensuring that we show a positive attitude towards trickier elements of our learning

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Our Be Kind hero today is Layton!

Layton has really tried hard today. We are loving his new learning attitude and I am sure he will continue to blow our socks off!
