🎃 H A P P Y 👻 H A L L O W E E N 🎃

Well today was the last day of Autumn 1 for Crew Fox. It has been such a successful half term & we are SO proud of the progress made in Crew Fox. Children are currently learning in a pandemic but you really wouldn’t think so. The resilience and determination has blown us away and we know that next half term will be EVEN BETTER!

Good evening everyone, here are some highlights of what we have been learning across Key Stage One this week. We have achieved so much in our final week of the half term, our brains are definitely ready for the break!

Year 1:

Reading and writing have been a massive focus for us since returning after lockdown and we are proud to say our skills are improving every single day! Read Write Inc is really paying off as we have had so many children having a try at writing independently using their phonics knowledge to sound out the words, well done Crew One!

Our box model village is finally complete! We set it all up in the hall and recreated our journey to Coffee Corner – watch this space for the expedition video!

We have also had Halloween on our minds all week! Every crew session eventually came back to what our costumes were going to be, and the children did not disappoint, we had some spectacularly spooky children in class today!

Year 2:

Year 2 have been investigating fact families in maths, using number cards to explore number bonds and working hard at addition and subtraction.

Crew Two have also been finishing their Keith Haring inspired clay tiles, carefully selecting colours that match their designs and using different sized paintbrushes to fill in the details on their tiles, they look amazing and we cannot wait to display them around school!

We have loved our Key Stage 1 expedition this half term, the teachers are so impressed at how quickly the children have got back into the learning routine and are striving for green standard.

We cannot wait for them to see what we have got planned for when they return to school!

Highlight of the day

Today’s highlight had to be the amazing outfits that the children wore! They looked amazing 👏 We have had a fabulously spooky day.

It has been a busy term and the children have done brilliantly! They have made an excellent start to Year 2 and we can’t wait to see what they can achieve next term!

I want to give a big shout out to the 7 children in Crew Welburn who earnt their chocolate bars by reading 4 times this week! 👏👏👏 I am really proud of you all for trying so hard to practice your sounding out and blending at home and I can’t wait to see how many more of you earn a chocolate bar next week! Some of you even read more than once in one night! 📚 🍫

What a happy Halloween 👻 we’ve had today in Foundation! It was fantastic to see all the children in their outfits, they had a Spooktacular time! We had lots of singing, dancing and Halloween crafts.

I’m sure the community of Carcroft thought they were seeing things when we carried out our daily mile in a spooky fashion!

It was also a sad day as we said goodbye to Alfie, Alfie is embarking on a new adventure at his new school, they are so lucky to have you Alfie. We also celebrated his birthday today, such a lovely last day for us to share together.

We have had a spooky Friday! I have loved seeing all of the children in their Halloween gear!

Crew Marsh’s star moment is the effort all of the children put into their Halloween pumpkins, they look amazing and I a sure the children are going to enjoy looking for them out in the community in house windows.

How can we develop this tomorrow?

After half term, children in Crew Marsh need to make sure they are always being kind to each other and not saying nasty comments.

This week in Crew Shields has been quite different due to me teaching remotely. However, the children adapted quickly and they have had a successful week. The children have really been enjoying writing and whenever I ask the highlight of their day, it is always writing. This is huge progress from September when I received a groan if writing was mentioned. They have really come together as a crew and this shows when they support each other with their learning and nothing is every too much trouble. I am extremely proud of everything they have achieved this half term. Have a great half term and stay safe.

Kaylum has demonstrated some fantastic listening skills today which meant he was able to produce a fantastic piece of Halloween art.

Learning Legend: Jack 

Jack has been working so hard since we returned in September and he has really settled into school life. He is continually trying to develop on the previous days learning which is lovely to see. Jack is building up his confidence and this is really showing, especially in writing. I am very proud of Jack and I look forward to see him continuing to shine as we move through Year 3.
