Germs…lots of germs

As part of our DT case study, we have been discussing bacteria and how this can have a negative effect on our bodies. We have highlighted the need for washing our hands and why this is essential to keep those germs under control.

We have conducted an experiment which we will observe over the next few weeks. This is where we have rubbed bread over a range of services to see where the most germs are. To help us make a comparison, we have ensured one slice of bread was handled by someone who had washed their hands and used hand sanitiser. Watch this space…

KS1 Rounders Tournament

Today, some of our Year 1 and Year 2 children have took part in a rounders tournament at Campsmount School. The children showed how well Carcroft School work as a team, and were cheering each other on throughout the afternoon. Their crew building and communication skills really shone through today and made myself and Mrs Scott feel really proud of them! 😁 We can’t wait to try again next year after a little bit more practice as we think the team will be amazing! 🌟

Hot, Hot, Hot!

Today is going to be a hot one. Please may we ask parents to apply suncream before school and if possible, send this to school with your child for later.

Also, please remember to send your child with a hat and water bottle .

Have a lovely Friday everyone .

UKS2 trip – Thackray Museum of Medicine

Good evening, just a reminder regarding our trip on 29th June. See below letter sent out 23rd May.

Dear parents and carers,

As part of our Summer Term expedition, ‘How does a healthy lifestyle impact your body and mind?’, we have organised a fantastic visit to The Thackray Museum of Medicine to hook the children into their learning and bring the expedition to life. The visit will be an action-packed day where the children will have the opportunity to explore how medicine has changed over time and observe some minor medical procedures.

The trip will take place on Wednesday 29th June 2022. The coach will collect us from school at 9:15am and it will return at approximately 2:30pm depending on the traffic. We will update you via text message if our return is delayed.

Children will wear school uniforms for the visit and we strongly encourage them to wear their red Carcroft hoodies.

Those children entitled to a free school meal will be provided with a packed lunch from school. All other children will be required to bring one from home.

The cost of the trip is £16.60. We are asking parents to pay £12.00 per child and the school will subsidise the remainder of the cost. Unfortunately, if we don’t receive enough money the trip will not go ahead.

Please note: All monies and consents need to be completed and paid via Parentpay no later than Friday 17th June 2022

We are looking forward to an exciting day. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any queries.

Yours faithfully,

Upper Key Stage Two Crew
