Crew Wilson Daily Blog: 22/02/21

We have had a brilliant first day back in Crew Wilson, it was great to see everyone back after half term!

Highlight of the day:

We have finally used our swords and shields to have our very own battle in the playground! We had to either attack or defend our castle with our weapons and deployed battle tactics to make sure we beat Crew Welburn and won!

Howl Heroes:

🟥Work Hard: This goes to Mia for her positive attitude to learning today, she has come in and got straight on with all her work, well done!

🟦Get Smart: This goes to Daisy for her fantastic answers in expedition, she has a wealth of knowledge because she is always actively listening, great work!

🟩Be Kind: This goes to Eva for being so kind to her friends on the playground and her teachers in the classroom, keep it up!

Howl Average:

A fab start to our week with a 3.5 – let’s see if we can maintain this all the way to Friday!

Crew Elmer Daily Blog 22.02.21

Happy Monday! 😁

Today has been a great first day back for Crew Elmer despite us all being very tired first thing this morning and wanting to be back in bed! 💤

Star moment of the day:

Today’s star moment has got to be our Expedition lesson this afternoon. I was blown away with the children’s enthusiasm to learn about Boudicca and Julius Caesar as part of our Expedition learning on ‘Why remember the Romans’. The children loved reading the interesting facts and watching the different video clips including the Horrible History songs. I was also impressed with how well the children took notes. 😁👏⭐👍🙌 The children are going to use these notes and the knowledge that they gained from today’s lesson to help them to create a fact file on either Boudicca or Julius Caesar. Keep an eye on our blog because I don’t think that you will want to miss these!

Todays HoWL average is: 3.1

A great score to start this half term! Well done Crew Elmer! 🙌⭐🤩

This week’s HoWL target is: 3.0

How can we develop this tomorrow?

Crew Elmer need to make sure that they keep up the good work and remember their HoWLs at all times of the school day.

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Today’s HoWL Hero was Laila. Laila was praised by a few crew members for working hard and for being kind at lunchtime outside on the playground. I chose Laila for HoWL hero for working hard in maths this morning. Sometimes Laila struggles with maths, however this morning she just grasped the concept being taught really well and demonstrated an excellent understanding of division. After being shown the ‘bus stop method’ once she picked it up and was able to apply this technique to answer a range of division calculations independently. She also got on to the reasoning and problem solving questions and completed them all! She was incredibly proud of herself and so she should be! Well done Laila! 👏⭐

Today, we could’ve given anyone HOWL hero… but the lucky 3 were:

Work hard: Kelby – for fantastic effort in her Math’s

Get smart: Keegan – for great work on equivalent fractions.

Be kind: Sophia – for helping out her team in P.E.

🤩 We are super proud to say that our HOWL average today is 3.1! We’ve worked super hard to achieve this and we’re really now thinking about what each HOWL really means.

Crew Marsh: 22/2/21

✨Star moment✨

Star moment today was having the children back in class, it was great to see them all after a well deserved rest and it was even better to see how much learning the children had remembered from before half term. Keep up the hard work Crew Marsh!!  👍👍😊

Average is: 2.8

Our Weekly HoWL target is: 3.0

How can we develop this tomorrow?

Crew Marsh need to continue to make sure they are fully concentrating on their learning and listening to instructions and making sure they are not chatting whilst completing work.

Howl hero:

Work hard hero today is Jessica!

Jessica has really impressed me today, she has really knuckled down and concentrated on her learning, making sure she is working hard and listening to all instructions carefully! You have made me feel so happy today! 😁💕💕

Crew Ferguson Daily Blog 22.2.21

Manic Monday! Today in crew the children have been straight back into learning and steaming ahead writing a non-chronological report. No rest for us as we start the new half term. We have come back rested and ready and the children have been little superstars all day. We haven’t stopped. 🙂  We have been pulling all our knowledge about castles and medieval times to create a report for the year 3 children to read. They are going to be amazed at our interesting facts!

We have then continued our expedition topic and looking at materials in science. We have sorted objects into groups and looked closely at how we can group certain objects using their properties. We have found rocks and stones would definitely be no good for building a boat!

The children have had a combined HOWL score of 2.7 today. Keep up the great work year 2!

Crew Wilson Daily Blog: 11/2/21

We have had a thrilling Thursday in Crew Wilson!

Highlight of the day:

Finishing our shields in the afternoon expedition lesson, as the crew collaborated so well on their designs, ensuring they were beautifully decorated but also reflected their personalities, and they also got the classroom back into ship shape without being asked! We have really enjoyed making our weapons and we cannot wait to test them out in our battle after half term!

Howl Heroes:

🟥Work Hard: Dalton and Luke for their perseverance and concentration in phonics today, we managed to get through our whole session super quickly and had time to practice reading 25 tricky green words, well done boys!

🟦Get Smart: Mia for her consistent improvement towards her listening and attitude to learning, you have had a fantastic week, keep it up Mia!

🟩Be Kind: Jake for working well alongside others and offering his help when he could see people were struggling, well done Jake!

Howl Average:

3.4 – a great end to our week, still not the fabulous 4 we had hoped for but watch this space after half term!

This week in the trust…

Exciting news!

We are not yet an XP trust school but it won’t be long now. Therefore, the trust have invited us to be a part of their ‘This Week in the Trust (TWITT)’ video collection. A very exciting way for Carcroft to end a very busy half term…

We are proud to be working with the XP Trust and it’s lovely to be a part of this fabulous weekly showcase. Can you spot anyone from CPS?

This will become a weekly event and will be posted on our website every Friday afternoon. Not only does this go out to our school, this goes out to all XP schools so your child’s beautiful work really is on show across the whole of Doncaster. Amazing! 🙌 Proud of you all 🤩

https://youtu.be/WtXaXe7XvAs

Finally, may I take this opportunity to thank you for your support and patience this half term. Unlike the media suggests, CPS is very much open this term and has been since our return in January. Our staff are juggling around 220 pupils onsite daily and a further 90 at home. I am extremely proud of each and everyone of them. They’ve done a fabulous job! However, we are also extremely grateful to our parents who are supporting our remote learners, ensuring that they are online and submitting work daily. We know it’s not been an easy task for you. Your resilience and patience has been amazing- thank you so much for this. Ensure you get plenty of rest next week too as you deserve it.

I’m now signing off from what has been a tiring half term but I’m signing off feeling incredibly proud of our community once again.

Stay safe everyone.

See you all back on Monday 22nd February either on-site or online.

Pancake Thursday

Highlight of the Day:

Today we explored pancake today and why we celebrate it.

We were lucky enough to have Miss Thiede who is an exert pancake maker help us to make our very own! We thought carefully about the ingredients we would need, where these ingredients came from and what happens to them when they are mixed.

We had great fun and they tasted delicious!

HoWL Heroes

Today I couldn’t choose one HoWL hero. Our crew all worked so hard today so we decided that we would all have a HoWL hero point for being kind and working hard together, as a crew! Well done everyone, have a lovely half term holiday.
