Crew Kent Blog 8.10.20

Today, we could’ve given anyone HOWL hero… but the lucky 3 were:

Work hard: Kai 🧑

Get smart: Grace 👩

Be kind: Milena 👩

🤩 We are super proud to say that our HOWL average today is 3.1We’ve worked super hard to achieve this and we’re really now thinking about what each HOWL really means.

Well done Crew Kent 👍

Crew Marsh: 8/10/20

My star moment in class today is listening to the children ask our visitor from the Mining Union questions. It just showed how much information they had retained! It really made me smile 🙂

Today’s HoWL average is: 2.9

Our Weekly HoWL target is: 3.3

How can we develop this tomorrow?

Crew Marsh needs to make sure they are working hard all day!

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Our Be Kind hero today is Mia!

Mia is always kind in Crew Marsh, and she is a real asset to our Crew. 😊

Crew Boswell – 07.10.20

Our star moment today was our writing lesson.  With a tricky first session writing a diary entry, everyone should be proud of their work.  Keep an eye out on the website for the complete versions at the end of the unit from our budding authors!

Today’s HoWL average is: 2.5

Our Weekly HoWL target is: 3.1

I wonder if…

I wonder if we can continue to be kind to each other, especially during our crew activities.

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Our Work Hard hero today is Harvey!

Harvey has had a great day today and couldn’t hide his huge grin after completing his writing.  He’s been working hard on speeding up in this area and it’s safe to say that he’s smashed it today!

Crew Nicholson Daily Blog 7.10.20

What a wonderful Wednesday we have had! We have worked so hard today, the children really get stuck into their work and have tried their best 🌟

Highlights from today:

In phonics we used our listening ears 👂🏼 to match instrument sounds. This might sound easy but we are at the beginning of our phonics learning journey and being able to match and identify sounds is a crucial aspect! The children were excellent at this and did so great that they got to play the instruments at the end! At home you can play listening games to develop their listening and attention and there are some useful phase 1 resources on the following websites:

During crew time we have been talking about why we are special and today we discussed different feelings and how we can tell if someone is happy or sad. The children looked at themselves in a mirror and showed us their best smiles and sad faces. They then did some ICT and used the iPads to take photos of each other 📸

HOWL Hero

Working hard – Messiah

Messiah worked so hard during crew time. He was able to talk about different feelings and did some excellent demonstrations 🌟

Crew Godley Daily Blog 07.10.2020

What a wonderful Wednesday we have had 😊 I am so impressed with the attitudes of some of our children today, I have had a great big smile on my face, all day! Such a wonderful Crew to be part of. We have had another very busy day!

Highlights of the day:

This morning in Crew we thought about how we looked, we looked at our body parts and how we could represent this whilst mark making. Some of us yesterday found this a little tricky, however, today we persevered and worked together as a Crew. We helped each other to think about the shapes we could use to draw ourselves and like by magic we were all able to! Some of us even added our names 😊

Math’s

Today we collaborated and worked in pairs to create on tricky teen numbers using cubes, I was so proud how the children worked with their perfect partner to problem solve.

The biggest highlight for me today was a group of children working independently, without any help from me! I was absolutely bursting with pride and some of these children were confident to share their learning with Miss Laing and Miss Whitehead. They were able to articulate what they had to do and knew it was ok to make mistakes as we have special purple pens to help us correct them. I am so, so proud of you all  🖤

Crew Elmer Daily Blog 07.10.20

Wonderful Wednesday! ⭐

Today has been a lovely sunny day both inside and outside of the classroom! ☀

Star moment of the day: ⭐

Today I praise how hard children worked in PE this morning. The children were great at generating warm up ideas which was fabulous to see! The children also enjoyed developing their attacking and defending skills! 🏏

Today’s HoWL average is: 2.7

This is the same as yesterday and again as crew we discussed that this was down to a few fall outs at lunch time today and some children not using kind words in class.

This week’s HoWL target is: 3.0

How can we develop this tomorrow?

Tomorrow Crew Elmer need to make sure that we are continuing to ‘be kind’ at all times especially at lunch times as this seems to be where most problems are arising still. Remember our rules for ‘playing kindly’ at crew times. 💕

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Crew Elmer nominated Jazmin for being our ‘kind’ ‘HoWL Hero! I praised Jazmin for how supportive she was this afternoon during our computing session. Other crew members also praised Jazmin for being kind at play and lunch times, which was lovely to hear. 💕

Crew Shields – 7/10/20

Crew Shields have been learning about mining this in their expedition. It was lovely hearing them generate some questions for our visitor tomorrow. They have used the information they gained in lesson to ask interesting questions.

Today’s HoWL average is: 2.9

Our Weekly HoWL target is: 3.0

How can we develop this tomorrow?

To improve further, Crew Shields need to build up their resilience when completing learning that provides some challenge to their thinking.

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Our Get Smart hero today is Chloe!

Chloe demonstrated that she had done good listening in writing today because she was able to use the model to write a great sentence. Well done.
